You don't know what you don't know.⁠ And that's okay.⁠ ⁠If there is any experience that is full of surprises, and not necessarily the nice kind, it's planning a wedding. After all, nobody teaches you at school that the bouquet that has been pinned a million times on Pinterest is actually worth a few hundred dollars, that a marquee wedding isn't actually the cheaper option considering you have to bring in everything from teaspoons to toilets. Nobody mentions the costs of vendors out loud. That people can suck at RSVPs. That you have to figure out logistics & food & beverage & napkins and oh. what, you have to think of that too? (This is why we are such avid fans of wedding planners). It's completely okay to not know this stuff, it's not something to feel embarrassment or shame about. And please, it's definitely not something to ignore a vendor (ghost!) about because you didn't realise that they were more expensive than you ever imagined, or you weren't aware that that's what that service actually cost. It's in some ways a rite of passage in figuring it out, what works for you and finding your dream team, asking for quotes, asking for help, informing yourself. Because when you do find your dream team? They can explain it. They can help you understand it and the fabulous vendors? They won't let you forget things, and they won't let you feel silly for not knowing and they can talk budgets & packages, eliminate parts and add things & work with you to make it the way you dreamt. You can be the most laid back couple in the world & wedding planning surprises can still suck. Wedding pros are the good guys, they're in your corner, trust them.
