Pretty Wedding Ideas at The House Meadow

This afternoon is all about sunny, happy and gorgeous wedding inspiration.

Photographer Rebecca Douglas decided she wanted to collaborate alongside some wonderful wedding suppliers to inspire couples with a shoot held at The House Meadow, Kent.

The House Meadow is a special wedding venue, set on a farm with so many possibilities for a rustic relaxed day. Drawing on that inspiration, the shoot had gorgeous florals, an amazing yurt and vintage caravan to name a few. Stunning.

Thanks so much to Rebecca Douglas for sharing her images with us today.

Clare Passmore – The House Meadow told me; ‘We love to promote local suppliers at The House Meadow, so when Rebecca suggested a styled shoot after our Open Weekend back in May we jumped at the chance. We were fortunate enough to have some fabulous exhibitors attending (the Open Weekend) and this meant we had amazingly talented individuals all ready to partake in a shoot. The weather was so perfect for it and we got to showcase the charm of The House Meadow, and the appeal of an outdoor venue beautifully. Rebecca caught some great images in the gorgeous light whilst using the natural backdrop of the Oak Tree, Lake and Meadow as focal points. We’re really excited to be in the process of developing our Kent Barn too, and the beautiful arrangements from Frida and Sophia Florists gave it just the right splash of colour whilst retaining a rustic feel. The pictures go a long way to portray just how lucky we are to be surrounded by such great Kentish suppliers, with fabulous products and services, and, with a Blank Canvas venue like ours you have the freedom to create a wedding that is perfect for YOU.’

Frida and Sophia Floral Design explain; “We wanted to create something light and summery without being too neutral. For the bridal bouquet, the Coral Charm Peony was at its peak and such a striking flower; together with White Duchess Peonies which have a beautiful scent, these were complemented with whites of Lilac and Ranunculus and peach of Avalanche Roses.

We loved working at the House Meadow, the combination of talented suppliers at such a beautiful venue with perfect weather was a lovely way to spend a bank holiday weekend.”

Alistair Harlow – YurtsUp told me; “At YurtsUp we hire out Kazak and Mongolian style yurts. For the House meadow shoot we setup our grandest and largest Kazak yurt, which stands at over 4 meters tall in the middle and is 8m in diameter. We decorated it simply with sumptuous cushions and a few rugs from our own furnishings so as to display the space the yurt provides. We have pulled together furnishings from many countries and put them together in a suitable and considered manner for the weekend. We always like to see variation and there are so many options available, and no one country has it perfect – some tables are from china, a pile of cushions from Pakistan, the versatile triangular cushions from Thailand, vintage rugs from Britain, and some bits and pieces made in our workshop. We always like to meet a client’s needs, so if we don’t have it, we’ll find it and hire it in for them! We know that everyone’s tastes are different.

The weather was also so fantastic at The House Meadow’s wedding fair that we took off the Yurt’s central crown cover and opened up two of the three doors so as to create a lovely ambient temperature for people to relax in, whilst still feeling warmed by the natural glow of the sun shining through the yurt canvas. This largest yurts has a great feature, and when the weather is really good, the canvas sides of the yurt can be removed to provide an “out door feel” that is quite special.”

Ketta Shimmin – Flossie Pops Cakery said;  “The cake for this shoot was inspired by a Pinterest board that Clare from The House Meadow had created for the styling of the interior of the barn. There was a photo of beautiful bunch of flowers displayed in a hessian covered jar which I used as the basis for the decoration. I felt the cake needed to be fairly informal but also with a modern edge, so created a double height lower tier with crisp, white sugarpaste. Because I didn’t know which flowers the florists would be using, I decided to make fantasy flowers inspired by roses, peonies, anemones in coral and peach shades which are very on-trend this year.”

Rebecca Douglas Photography enthuses;  “I was so inspired by the natural environment at The House Meadow and it was so lovely to spend a weekend there in the heart of the countryside. I met Abigail from Abigail’s Wardrobe at a wedding fair and had been a fan of the bespoke dresses that she makes. When I spoke to her about the shoot she designed two bespoke dresses based on her signature designs of the fitted wiggle dress and ‘50s halter neck which Nicola looked amazing in. There are so many beautiful parts to the venue and there was the added treat of caravans, VW Campers and Beetles and yurts all set up that weekend. The team at The House Meadow are so lovely and when we were there, a couple celebrating their first anniversary had a plaque presented to them and a tree named in their honour. I just thought this was such a beautiful touch and show how much the owners care for their couples.”
