DIY “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” Box

Today we have three super fun DIY posts from Margaux at Harmony Creative Studio! She created the awesome neon bachelorette box that I linked to awhile back, and today she’s got three different wedding related DIY boxes for us, starting with a “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” gift box. Take it away, Margaux!

Asking your ladies to be a part of your big day is an opportunity to give them a nice little gift and to impart some vital info. In addition to that, I think it’s important to acknowledge that agreeing to be in your wedding party is a commitment, and that you appreciate it!

It’s becoming more and more popular to let bridesmaids pick their own dresses and accessories. To give a little direction, we’ve made a small 4.5×6” photo book of info and inspiration photos – small enough for a bridesmaid to drop in her bag and keep with her while shopping for dresses. Nearly every online photo outlet has some version of a photo book, but the one pictured is from Walgreens. You don’t have to be a graphic designer to make them cute for your ladies – there are tons of free downloads and printables out there (a Pinterest search of “Bridesmaid Free Printable” is a good place to start). The beautiful cover we’ve used is a free printable from Kelsey of Pinegate Road that you can download HERE.

Outfitting your maids with a small emergency kit will benefit them – and you! – on your wedding day, should anything go awry. It’s also something they can toss in their car or desk at work and use after the fact. We’ve packed ours into a convenient clear box from The Container Store, with anything they might need: mints, bobby pins, hair bands, feminine products, bra strap holder, cotton pads and swabs, lip gloss, disposable toothbrush, safety pins, oil blotting sheets and various beauty samples. You could also add in stain removers, pain killers and small bandages.

Once your ladies have helped you wrangle your bustle, blot your tears and danced the night away, they’ll appreciate the relaxation provided by a little Day After kit. Add things like a foot soak, makeup and nail polish removers, bath salts and a tiny scented candle for a mini-spa experience.

To get the pretty, frosted ombre effect for our wraparound label, we printed each bridesmaid’s name on a piece of vellum, then layered it over a piece of double-sided ombre gift wrap from Rifle Paper Co. We tucked ours into the top of the box, but you could just as easily wrap it around the entire box as a band – easy peasy!

If you’ve ever been a bridesmaid, you know that while it’s a whole lot of fun and truly fulfilling to be a part of celebrating the new couple, it’s also a real time and monetary commitment. To have a bride appreciate that up front can set the tone for a wonderful experience!
