Favorite Outdoor Ceremony Backdrops ✈ Friday’s FAB 5

Without the beautiful surroundings of a church, ceremony backdrops become pretty important for outdoor weddings. This is something I never really thought about before I started to plan my own wedding. Lindsay has talked about great DIY ceremony backdrops before and today I’ve gathered five of our all time favorite outdoor ceremony backdrops. I’m a little obsessed with all things symmetrical (my other half would say borderline OCD) and none of these are too “out there” but each provide a wonderful focal point for a truly elegant ceremony.

What a wonderful brainwave this idea was. The lace border perfectly frames the ceremony space without impinging on the natural beauty of the scene, with the white creating a gorgeous halo around the couple. It’s simple to DIY as well, as long as you have the right frame. A basic tree curve can always be extended with props which can then be hidden under the lace.

The empty space at the centre of this backdrop as well as the steps leading upwards draw the eye in. The florals are not overdone by continuing all the way around the arch, and the crowning touch is the delicate chandelier hanging at the apex.

The huge draped chiffon panels in this backdrop are magnificent. The addition of chandeliers and massive floral arrangement ‘tie-backs’ make it even more grandiose, but my favorite part is the simple wooden table centerpiece which sits in stark contrasts to the rest of the elaborate set up.

The fabric for the draping above was dyed with tea to get the exact shade the bride had in mind. It’s so simple yet utterly beautiful. The wind making it wave adds a lovely flowing element and the rug placed underfoot brings a lovely touch of the indoors outside.

Our last backdrop is the most simple but arguably the most beautiful. It’s hard to improve on nature!

Yesterday we visited northern Italy for this beautiful garden celebration. Join us next week when we’ll take a trip to Venice and Sweden! Have a great weekend.
