What makeup-loving girl doesn't crave a little bit of glitter in her life every once in a while? We've all had that urge to go crazy with an electro-inspired eye, but ... where the heck can you go out looking like a '70s disco ball? (Don't answer that.) Thankfully, we're here to satisfy your craving with a slightly more pared-down approach, proving that it is possible to pull off and enjoy chic-yet-subtle glittery eyelids in everyday life.

When worn in the right way, sparkly eyelids can make your skin sparkle and your eyes pop. Some quick tips before we get started:

• Choose glitter that's fine in texture. (Save the rock-star eyes for nighttime.)
• Keep skin matte and only add a subtle illuminator to the high points of the face (that'd be the cheekbones, the bridge of your nose and your cupid's bow).
• Pair your lips down so they aren't competing for attention.

1. Set Your Base.

Apply a peach-toned pink cream color across your entire eyelid as a base - this will help with the longevity of your look. Next, sweep a berry pigment shadow over the top of the lid, in the crease line and along your lower lash line. Buff a second layer of the shadow across the lid and crease again for added intensity.

2. Add Sparkle

Mix the loose pigment glitter with an eye primer adhesive and use a small eye shadow brush to apply onto the center of your eyelid, stopping just before you reach the crease.

3. Underline it

Use the tip of your shadow brush to apply a fine line of your glitter mix along your lower lash line.

4. Finish It Off

Apply a volumizing mascara to your top and bottom lashes to define your sparkle eye and anchor the look. To keep all the attention at eye level, finish with a skin-tone matte lipstick.

TIP: Avoid cleaning up sparkle fall out all over your face by holding a business card underneath your eye to catch the excess glitter.
