Laura & Jayson's Long Meadow Wedding - Wedding Friends

Laura & Jayson's Long Meadow Wedding - Wedding Friends

via

Jewish weddings are culturally and traditionally really rich celebrations with an overwhelming amount of emotions. Yet, it is still one of the most beautiful ceremonies to observe. On the blog today we have the privilege of sharing Laura & Jayson's Long Meadow Wedding in Fourways, Johannesburg. Laura and Jason had a glamorous event and the images speak for itself. Their day was captured by the king of glam, Christiaan David Photography and he did, as expected, an exceptional job!

I Propose | Elaborate on how the two of you met.

It's a funny story actually... browsing Facebook, Jayson came across a photo of a mutual friend and myself. He contacted her straight away & asked her if I was single. A week or so later, the girls & I were off to H20 for a little party. In my tipsy state, Tash (mutual friend) told me that I will be meeting this guy called Jayson today, I took no real notice at what she told me & carried on dancing. An hour into the party, I noticed this guy walking down the hill making his way to where we were standing, & I got butterflies in my tummy immediately! She introduced us & in Jayson's words "She had me at hello".

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down.

The afternoon of the 19th Dec 2013, during our holiday in Winterstrand, EL, I was told we going to the club house that night for dinner. When I was dressed, I was told we had to quickly fetch someone from their walk on the beach & thought nothing of it. When we got to the beach, Jayson said I must get out the car & come look at the beautiful sunset. He guided me down the sand path onto the private beach & in the corner of my eye I noticed that there was a set dinner table, 2 chairs, candles, flowers & a waitress holding 2 glasses of champagne. Jayson then got onto one knee in the sand & asked me to marry him.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day.

After not seeing or speaking to each other for 7 days, which is a Jewish tradition, I think the most memorable time was the bedekken. After getting dressed and having our individual photo shoot, I arrived at Long Meadow and went into the special room with all my female family and retinue. I was seated in the middle surrounded by all the women. A very emotional Jayson was led into the room by our fathers and his retinue. After confirming that I was the right woman he wishes to marry, he placed my veil over my head. This was a very emotional time for us both, as we got to see each other all dressed up for our wedding, the first time, after not seeing each or speaking to each other other for 7 days. This was the moment that reality set in - we were about to start our own happily-ever-after as Mr & Mrs Smal.

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day.

A real life fairytale...

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides.

My advice would be don't have a long engagement. I planned the wedding in 3 months and could have done it in 2. Your life together starts when you married, so the sooner the better!
