The Perfect Makeup for the Little White Dress

The Perfect Makeup for the Little White Dress

via

We all know and understand the allure of the Little Black Dress: It's slimming, perfect for a variety of occasions and never goes out of style. Although we love and appreciate everything the LBD stands for, we'd like to give some love to its lesser-known counterpart: the LWD (the Little White Dress). While a crisp or flowy white dress might not seem as sultry and va-va-voom as a black ensemble, it's still got some serious appeal. For one, white dresses are ultra-feminine and make for a sweet, pristine look. The LWD also offsets bright and beautiful makeup. Take a look at our fave makeup picks for that Little White Dress before Labor Day hits!

Face. No need for dramatic contouring or matte finishes with this look! Nothing complements a LWD like a fresh and glowing complexion. Keep the foundation light and opt for one with an illuminating finish. Avoid looking washed out in white by lightly applying bronzer to your forehead, cheek hollows and neck. Blend it in well for a soft, sun-kissed look. Get naturally flushed cheeks with a peach or coral cream-based blush. Work the color into the apples of your cheeks, and you're good to go. For a little extra glow, dab or dust some highlighter on your cheekbones, forehead, chin and nose.

Eyes. Go soft on the eyes with pastel or neutral shadows and shimmery ( not glittery) finishes. Try dusting a soft matte pastel pink or peach on the eyelids. Then apply a shimmery champagne-colored shadow to the inner corners of the eyes. Lightly line the upper and lower lash line with this same shimmery shade to make the eyes pop. Curl the lashes and apply a lengthening mascara.

Lips. When rocking a white dress, a pop of color is necessary and the lips are the perfect place to get poppin'. While anything goes here, we think a fun fuchsia or bright coral would really stand out against your white canvas. MDC Quick Tip: Line the lips with an invisible lip liner before applying your lipstick to make sure the color doesn't bleed! Lightly swipe on a gloss that's comparable to your lip shade and your LWD look is complete!
