Add Texture to Your Tablescape!

Add Texture to Your Tablescape!

via

Whether you are designing your wedding tablescapes, or your own table decor at home, adding texture gives your table that extra pop of something special. We've got some gorgeous, simple examples for you on how to infuse texture into your table, from gorgeous linens (above) to the perfect rustic place setting.

Give your plates a charge of texture!

Treat those classic white plates to some chic definition with shiny, mirrored chargers. The greatest thing about the humble charger is just how much they can transform a place setting. It's an affordable way to keep your table on-trend without having to lug home a new set of dishes every season. These silver chargers (below, right) turn white elegant and refined, perfect for anything from your wedding reception to a special date night in for just the two of you.

In addition to your white dishes, it's never a bad idea to have another set for everyday use. The collection below reflects a fashionable nod to texture by using different types of stone and ceramic. From bold borders to organic round shapes these plates add their own vibrant dimension to brunch at your breakfast table. My own preference? Keep them a little mismatched. Buy coordinating plates to create an eccentric, but polished tablescape.

Keep it natural.

Don't get me wrong. I love a good trend. But I also hate spending money on things I'll never use after it becomes yesterday's news (I'm talking to you, quilted backpack). Incorporate texture with items that you can use again and again. These wooden serving platters are timeless. Use the round cut (below) as a cake platter at your wedding, and then as your cheese plate at Christmas. Even though they might seem very of-the-moment on your cake table, they are something you will be able to continue to show off for many parties to come.

Weave together a tablescape.

I can't get enough of woven elements right now. It doesn't matter if it is rattan or cotton, I am just digging the warmth this trend gives off. For your wedding's beachy-meets-French-market vibe, pair a thickly woven charger with striped napkins (below, left) and serve a rustic meal. If your taste strays more to the shabby chic side, use a thinner woven placemat with neutral linens and loads of fresh flowers. And yes, definitely some champagne. Because champagne goes with everything.
