It is Wednesday and that can only mean one thing, it is another Wanderlust Wednesday and today we are off Exploring Monteplellier with the assistance of Fleurs Design by Faustine. Exploring Montepllier

Nestled between the Mediterranean sea and the Cevennes mountains, Montpellier is a vibrant town. It's easy to get here by air, either via Montpellier Fréjorgues airport (the nearest), Béziers aiport or Nîmes airport. There are lots of things to see and to do in Montpellier...so let me help guide you!

In the heart of the town is the Place de la comédie. You cannot miss it, with the Trois grâces fountain and the Opéra. It's so beautiful and romantic at night. From there, you can discover our little Paris with our Arc de triomphe, smaller of course, and then a stroll through the Jardin du Peyrou. The gardens are the highest point in the town, with nice views.

Montpellier is a very old town. To explore its history, you can simply wander around the old town streets and see the beautiful architecture, with lots of private homes from XVI to XX century, the gorgeous St Pierre Cathedral and St Roch church. You can still feel this special atmosphere all along the streets. My favourite thing are the small squares in the summer. you can have a drink at a sidewalk cafe at anytime of the day and just relax.

Although Montpellier is an historic place, it's very dynamic and cultural as well. There is a great art museum and lot of small and charming galleries. Art is everywhere, even on the tramway - 4 lines and 4 different designs. Lines 2 and 3 were designed by Christian Lacroix.

There are also music festivals, dance festivals, film festivals all year around and always something to enjoy. If you like design and new architecture, why not go and see the new Hotel de ville, designed by the french architect Jean Novel, and a short distance from a place called Le nuage (it means "the cloud") designed by Philipe Stark.

But if none of this excites you, you can always go to the beach ! The glittering Mediterranean sea is on our doorstep. You go to enjoy the sunset and the sand, or enjoy a cocktail or both!

In the summer, beach bars pop up all along the waterfront and create a really vibrant, buzzy atmosphere. For a more intimate evening, Le phare is a restaurant with a beautiful view. Set inside an old water tower, its a very romantic place to go and enjoy a meal whilst looking out at all the lights of the town at night.

Around Montpellier, there is lovely scenic countryside, full of châteaus, castles and vineyards. Why not spend a relaxed day sampling some wines of the Languedoc followed by a meal of local dishes and regional specialities.
