2 Ways to Wear Blue Eye Shadow Like a Grown Up

For some, blue eye shadow sparks images of Grandma and her Robin's egg blue eyelids telling us to sit up straight. As much as we love Granny, her look does not make us have warm and fuzzy feelings about blue eye makeup. Allow, us to paint another picture for you ... actually, two. We've got two AMAZING (and very different) makeup looks that prove blue eye shadow can be done so, so right. Makeup pro and YouTube darling Alana Dawn shows us how it's done.

Step 1: Apply a layer of white eye primer to the lids. ( This will allow your color to really pop and stand out.)

Step 2:
Apply a pigmented pastel blue (we love NYX Hot Singles Eyeshadow in Kandi) to the lid and buff the color out just past the crease to soften the intensity.

Step 3:
Line the lower lid with black liner and finish the look with mascara. Easy, right?!

Step 1: Like the former tutorial, start off by applying white primer to your lids. Using a fluffy shadow brush, brush on a bright blue shadow (like the "Chaos" shade from the Urban Decay Electric Palette). Layer on a turquoise shade (like "Gonzo" from the Electric Palette) and blend the shadow upward past the crease.

Step 2:
Apply the bright blue shade to the lower lash line, focusing on the outer half of the eye and diffusing the color inward.

Step 3:
To finish off your fierce look, add black liner to your waterline. And for added drama, throw on some faux lashes!
