Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe to Make at Home

via

At Nordstrom, we make Pumpkin Spice Lattes with real pumpkin purée, Nordstrom Debut Espresso Blend Coffee Beans, Torani Pumpkin Pie Flavored Sauce and (what I think is genius) Nordstrom Spiced Chai mix, which is available to buy at our Ebars. They're delicious and perfectly fit the season. To enjoy them at their best, drop by one of our stores for a steaming cup-but anyone can recreate just about the same experience at home, even without a fancy espresso machine or milk steamer setup. Though, if you do have one of those, check out the video from ChefSteps on how to steam milk like a master barista below.

One 15-ounce can of pumpkin purée is enough to fill up to 10 large mugs. Make these wildly popular lattes for your next holiday party crowd-or a cozy evening in for two (or one!), and see my Editor's Note for freezing the pumpkin spice mix to use anytime. And, if you just can't get enough pumpkin spice in your life, grab a 30-ounce can and use the remaining half to create our recipe for Pumpkin Frangelico Cheesecake.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe
From our Nordstrom Ebars

Ingredients (per 20 ounce latte)
1 1/2 ounces pumpkin pie sauce (Torani or similar)
3 tablespoons unsweetened pumpkin purée
2 tablespoons Nordstrom Spiced Chai Mix
2-3 ounces espresso
1 3/4 cups milk
Nutmeg, freshly grated to garnish

1. Into a large coffee mug, add pumpkin pie sauce, pumpkin purée and Nordstrom Spiced Chai Mix, whisk until well combined.

2. Prepare your favorite espresso. Add espresso to mug and whisk ingredients again until thoroughly mixed.

3. If you don't have a milk steamer or automatic frother, heat milk in a microwave oven in a microwave-safe container or on the stovetop in a saucepan over medium low heat until hot, approximately 155ºF. Once heated, for a more ideal consistency, aerate milk with a handheld frother. (If you do have a machine with a milk steaming wand, watch these pro tips for killer froth from ChefSteps.)

4. Give heated, frothed milk a final stir and pour into coffee mug over the whisked espresso and pumpkin spice mixture. Garnish with a dusting of freshly grated nutmeg.

Editor's note: I made two of these lattes to photograph, but I thought I might not get to all of the pumpkin purée before it went bad. While this method isn't used at our Ebars, I decided to make and freeze the whisked pumpkin spice mixture (sans espresso) in an ice cube tray, so I could make a latte anytime without worrying about having pumpkin purée on hand. With the remaining purée from the 15-ounce can, I was able to make enough of the mixture for eight additional lattes.

Each latte includes about 3 ounces (approximately 6 tablespoons) of the mixture, so, after whisking the pumpkin pie sauce, pumpkin purée and Nordstrom Spiced Chai Mix together, pour and portion it into ice cube trays. For the trays I used, that worked out to 4 compartments ('cubes') per latte. When it was frozen solid, I transferred the pumpkin spice cubes to freezer-safe zipper lock bags. They're ready whenever I am to heat them up in a coffee mug and make more lattes anytime-just by adding espresso and hot, frothed milk.
