In a glassy, reflective showroom in Milan stand Jimmy Choo's achingly chic fall '16 creations. But these shoes are not just meant to be gazed upon; in this street-style-dominated fashion economy, these are next season's essential, sidewalk-ready pieces.

We asked Creative Director Sandra Choi to give us her top three selects to see-and be seen in-this coming autumn.

The new collection is a sartorial story of contradictions and contrast. "Romance and robustness. Decadence and daintiness. Authority and anarchy. Uniformity and individuality." Choi achieves a sense of balance through the tension that exists between liberation and constraint -straps and ties alongside open slivers speak not only to restraint and dominance, but choice and control.

Choi's myriad inspirations include masculine military regalia, the undulating rainbow palette of Art Nouveau and a touch of Edwardian flounce. The result is an assertive, opulent arsenal of eclectic footwear for the multi-faceted modern woman:

"A whole range of different references provided me with the creative raw material to explore a sense of sensual friction. Why friction? Because tension and contrasts are at the heart of this collection-and because friction generates heat."

Let's warm up then, shall we?

Choi: The Maloy is an over-the-knee statement boot with strap and buckle detailing from top to toe. I love this boot-the combination of old-school militarism and contemporary feminine boldness is perfectly balanced.

The Trick sandal features leather straps set against rugged, raw suede finished with glimmering gold hardware.

The Mari is my personal favorite from the collection. The richness of the velvet, the gold eyelets and the hint of corsetry with the lace-up detail come together as a beautiful shoe.
