When it came time for wedding planning Toronto-based Maritimers Kelsey and Jim knew they wanted to tie the knot back home in Nova Scotia. Kelsey's family cottage was the obvious venue choice since it was also where Jim popped the question in 2014.

"We wanted to keep the wedding simple and elegant while also making sure it represented both us and the location," says Kelsey. The pair used shades of blue and white as their colour palette and added shell and starfish details to pay homage to their seaside venue.

Reflecting on the day, Kelsey says seeing Jim for the first time at their ceremony was definitely a highlight. "Jim was smiling at me with tears in his eyes as he waited for me to walk down the aisle," she remembers.

Music was an important wedding consideration for Jim and Kelsey who met through mutual friends at the Halifax Pop Explosion music festival. To celebrate their first few moments as husband and wife, Kelsey and Jim went with an unexpected recessional song: "Archie, Marry Me" by Alvvays. "It's a pretty fun, unconventional song about getting married but most importantly Alvvays consists of Maritimers who live in Toronto - just like us," Kelsey explains.
