Today I submitted a love letter to my twin girls Ailce and Beatrice, I was asked to be part of a valentines campaign by Tamba, a charity that supports couples with twins and multiple births. I had to dig deep, naturally I love my girls but I had to cast my mind back to the rawness of being a new mum of twins, the thing that struck me, shocked me and I was not prepared for at all was the notion of having to fall in love with two people at the same time. It sounds obvious, but not much can prepare your mentally, physically or emotionally for this challenge and it's a feeling that is instantly expected. It wasn't easy if I'm honest and I know I probably have tough life challenges ahead, but for me this was so far the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm pleased to say we got there, stay there and remain there forever. I'm not sharing this in an effort to self congratulate, it's an attempt to make a small mark on an expectant twin mum..... and hope that this goes some way to prepare them for the most demanding, beautiful, rewarding and fulfilling journey of their lives.
