Wedding - Stone Fox Bride

Stone Fox Bride

Yom Kippur — the holiest day of the Jewish calender — just passed this weekend. The Day of Atonement. Reflection, resolution, renewal. Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) was last week. The ten days in between are for thinking about the year that’s just passed and the one up ahead. We dip apples in honey so that the future will be sweet. We ask ourselves: what kind of year do I want to create? What am I crippled by? What am I going to do about it? This is the time, says my Rabbi Amichai Lau Lavie, “to return to center, recharge our souls, reclaim community and co-create our widening circles of care, compassion and justice.” Mostly, it just means that we get to begin again. Throw your sins in the ocean, say I’m sorry, clean out the cupboards. But you never really start over anyway. No matter where you go, everything always goes with you, and that’s good and it’s bad and it’s beautiful. Here's to the next 365 days.
