Flash! Pop! Shrinking violets and wallflowers be warned and sequin lovers rejoice! Excess is back!

We’re not talking about your local hobby shop trimmings and sequins either. Oh no. This is about all-singing, all-dancing, totally modern, mirrors, feathers, beads and crystals from your eyes down to your stilettos. Influences come far and wide – a mash up of David Bowie during the heady days of Glam Rock, the extravagance of 70’s and 80’s nightclubs, Las Vegas excess, and even the shimmery decorative paintings of artist Gustav Klimt.

It’s not exactly a look founded on understatement and it is all over the fall runways. This season Diane Von Furstenberg goes all out with punchy pink lipstick that pops out on a clean muted face. House of Holland prefers to focus on the eyes with a burst of glittery color to accentuate mesmerizing stares. Off the runways, the look has fun potential too. Go for a softer balance of natural, wavy curls with bright pink lips and just a touch of metallic glitter on the eyes – use any color so as long as it glitters! This fall, it’s time to have some fun. So, go on. Live a little...Or a lot!
