Winter Beauty Trend: Sleek Vixen

As the weather gets cold, stay hot this winter with our Sleek Vixen look. The runways show a myriad of variations, but key to the look are smoky, mysterious eyes and slicked back hair. One of our favorite looks is from Philip Plein – where the style is part exotic princess and part dominatrix, perfect for today’s powerful, modern women.

Vixens have a universal, tantalizing appeal – strong and yet slightly naughty. Their presence is commanding. Photographer Helmut Newton captures this essence in his work, depicting sleek, elegant women wielding their feminine power. Or think back to the clone-like, guitar-playing models in Robert Palmer “Addicted to Love” video from the late 1980’s. Though intended as backup, these leggy, meticulously made-up girls are what give the video its iconic appeal. Beautiful and precarious, they suggest a hint of danger, and somehow, that’s oh so appealing.

For smoky eye lovers, there’s a wealth to choose from this season. Dark, creamy eye shadows are offset with a touch of silver on the inner eyes for a seductive accent. Contour blush is also key this season, especially alluring in warm shades of apricot. Add the final touch with soft, muted lips, or for evening, try creamy lipsticks in pearlescent peach and coral hues. Hair looks best when combed back high on the head in a dominatrix ponytail, but don’t forget the seductive hair jewelry for those festive evenings. After all, there is a little vixen in each of us.

Is this sleek vixen makeup and hair a look you would try? Here's how to get the look!
