Southwestern weddings are stunning for so many reasons. Personally, I love the way the bright colors pop against the stark (but dramatic) surroundings. Those weddings held in deserts are absolutely rife with photo ops, from cactus backdrops to explosive sunsets. Here are a few Southwest wedding details that we think will make your event even more special.

Taking your colors from your surroundings is one of the best ways to make your Southwest wedding pop. Above, checkout the corals, aquas, yellows, and white that makes the earth tones around them sing. Below, this couple opted to go with a muted version. Using the color of their succulents and pairing it with creamy peaches and golds, it's a more reserved palette, but still gorgeous. The colored glass of their votives and spray painted bottles really bring the whole look together, and in an affordable way(bonus!).

I dare you to try to have a Southwest wedding with nary a succulent in sight. It just can't be done (and it shouldn't be). From cakes to favors, succulents are such a pretty way to incorporate desert charm.

Other elements that can play a leading role? Decorate cocktails with red peppers and tables with cactus plants in terra cotta pots. If you want a vintage feel, wrap the pots in lace ribbon (above) or if you really want to amp up Southwest traditions, ikat-inspired fabrics.

Both of these invitations are uniquely Southwestern, with their trademark patterns and colors.

Looking for a modern spin on Southwest style? Mix and match (above) traditional details, like clay pots and antlers, with glam elements like lush monochromatic arrangements and sparkly sequined tablecloths. Or go modern minimalism with leather or paper patterns along a family-style table (below). Add an extra "something" by wrapping each place setting in leather strings and using triangle-shaped plates to emphasize the geometric elements.
