Gráinne and Paul are a super chic couple with oodles of style which they poured into their intimate city affair in Dublin.

It's not often that we see the bride and groom get ready together the morning of the wedding and then walk down the aisle together but I actually really love the sense of togetherness that this gorgeous pair embrace. Personally I'd like to see more brides and grooms start the day together in this way.

Lastly I have to say something about Gráinne's personal style; I adore her vintage beaded jacket which complements her Anouska G gown perfectly and I've fallen head over heels for her delicious engagement ring; it is divine.

Trust me, you'll most definitely agree...

Gráinne The Bride:When we decided on a city centre wedding it kept everything very focused, as there aren't many wedding venues available for small groups. Once the ceremony location was booked it was just a matter of two or three quality city center dining venues that would be within a handy walking distance. We felt The Cliff Townhouse had the best menu choice and dining room/bar layout. It just suited our requirements for a party of forty.

I wanted a loose romantic look for the hair with as little use of product as possible. Anything too styled or manicured wasn't going to work with the dress or even the vibe of the day we wanted.For my make-up, I sourced images of people with similar colouring and narrowed it down to with a few pictures of Michele Dockery and Kiera Knightly with the smokey eye/pale lip look. I took these pictures with me to Bobbi Brown at Arnotts and they did exactly what I wanted.

Before I knew what I wanted to wear; I definitely knew what I didn't want. I've never been a white wedding kinda gal so I looked for something I thought would be timeless and a bit vintage. I really just wanted something I could dance in. The only dress I tried on came from Anouska G at House of Fraser. Initially it was too big but Liz Burke did an amazing job on the fittings. I was really happy with how it turned out.

The 60's beaded/sequin jacket was eventually found at the vintage bridal shop, Dirty Fabulous on Wicklow Street in Dublin. The 50's beaded shoes were sourced from Etsy.

Paul's suit, shoes and belt all came from Zara and his tie was from Red Herring.

I either already owned or made any of the accessories I wore on the day. The only item I bought was a pair of the earrings from Parisian Girl on Etsy. The pearl and diamante bracelet was recycled from a broken necklace I never got around to fixing and the 20's diamante bag was borrowed from a friend. I got the hair clips in Monsoon about 10 years ago.

In keeping with our simple and easy approach, we decided not to have a wedding party. Instead we wanted the wedding to feel like a family gathering rather than 'our big day'. On the day all we had to do was get ourselves ready in time for photographs before the ceremony. We decided early on we wanted to get ready together at our own place - it saved a lot of time and fuss.

The colour scheme didn't need a lot of thought. I wanted to wear cream and Paul wanted to wear navy so pink goes well with both. I also think pink has a nice vintage vibe. It was fortunate the reception wall colours were navy and lavender, so it all tied in nicely.

I was always going to get the flowers at the local Smithfield market around the corner. I picked what I think has an ageless look - stoop, pink carnations and white and pink baby's breath. Arranging the flowers the night before was probably my favourite thing to do. It was great to have something relaxing to focus on.

For the reception I sourced four blue vintage bud vases through Etsy and put either a pink or white stoop bud in each. The clear jars had pink carnations and baby's breath and were wrapped with ribbons. For the ceremony table I found a 50's Wedgewood planter vase. The bouquet was light and easy to carry and I think baby's breath always looks good in photos. Again I wanted a natural looking bouquet that I could carry in one hand.

We wanted a short low fuss ceremony. We talked about readings but felt it just wasn't us. Initially we weren't going to include extras but once we visited the gallery and talked to superb venue manager we decided it would be a missed opportunity not to have live music.

I knew I wanted a friend, Margie Jean Lewis, to perform and was delighted when she agreed. Margie did her own version of each song and we were more than happy for her to surprise us on the day. She also played a violin version of Billie Holiday's 'Let's Fall in Love', before switching to the Ukulele and singing Bruce Springsteen's 'If I Should Fall Behind'. We exited to Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin' which Margie played on her violin.

Our first song was Bryan Ferry's More Than This. We both love film and started thinking about our favorite film scenes and soundtracks so Bill Murray's karaoke in Lost in Translation was the inspiration. I also remember Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark as a stand out moment.

The wedding cake was raspberry sponge, chocolate and then banana and walnut covered in butter icing. I chose a pinky/lavender colour to go with the room. The cake wasn't touched on the night so we gave chunks of it away and really enjoyed it with tea in the following days after the wedding. I made the bunting cake topper from ribbons, string and sticks and the table flag numbers from card, paper and sticks. Our dining table was a make shift paper/flower/jewelry workstation for about a week before the wedding.

We designed our invite together and got it printed at Moo.com. The idea was to make it look like a film poster. We took the Man Men silhouette and tweaked it to suit our purposes.

Keep things as close to your own tastes as possible without isolating guests. The last thing we wanted was a traditional wedding so comfortable venues and great food had to be a priority. We tried not to think of it as a wedding but a dinner party with a few extras. It ended up being so much better than we expected.

We put a lot of research into the photographer we wanted. I'd say we looked at least 50 sites and then we narrowed it down to three we really liked. We had very specific ideas about the look we wanted. Hannah was lovely and prompt to deal with regarding all enquiries. Rob was very relaxed and great with the guests. He was fun and professional. Arranging to have the bulk of the photos taken before the ceremony really helped take the time pressure off for photos after the ceremony too; we're delighted with the photos.
