Portrait Shoot Style & Outfit Ideas | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

I have been in the wedding industry now for almost 4 years, but have only ever had a proper professional photo shoot done for me once in that time. A combination of shyness and anxiety issues mean I avoid such situations hehe.

But I have booked in this week to have some professional shots taken for my new about page. My lovely friend is shooting, so that eases my nerves BUT I have no clue what to wear. It has made me remember just how I felt back at our own engagement shoot and making sure I felt good about myself in front of the camera. I am also guessing that there may be many of you feeling the exact same right now with your own shoots planned.

I have often given advice for styling and outfits on shoots, but when it comes to my own I don't seem to be able to apply said theory. It perhaps doesn't help that I have a mini bump and I am not quite sure how to style it, and my skin recently has felt pretty rubbish.

Anyway, here are my outfit options for the shoot (I hope they still fit hehe!!)

One of my favourite trusty frocks, knee length and flattering. I love the bold graphic pattern which I think could work well in images. I have to wear my favourite shoes, my beloved clogs with this dress I think.

For a more feminine Spring feel I feel great in this floral dress I got for a wedding last year, which I am thinking can be dressed up with my sparkle heels.

Topshop heels & French Connection Spring dress.

For a casual look, jeans is a must I think. I mean I wear denim a lot, and my newest purchase; the floral kimono will add some colour and fun I think. I will probably team these with a simple tee and brogues.

H&M Kimono & Maternity Treggings.

I think it's important to feel like me and to share my personality in the shoot. Being some of my favourite items in my wardrobe I cannot go too far wrong surely?

I will be doing my own hair and make up and keeping it natural. I think I will probably be wearing my glasses but I have had a hair cut for the first time in months, so that makes me feel better already. I am not really an accessories kind of person, so I am not really considering adding any at the moment. But a pop of colour on my nails will add some personality me thinks. The boys are probably going to join in with the shoot too, but I cannot even begin to think about what they will be wearing hehe!

Any photographers out there have any tips? Or perhaps any of you that have been in front of a camera more recently than me and can give me some words of wisdom :-) Now I am off to practice my non squinty face hehe XOXO Lou
