Weddings just happen...well at least that's what a wedding planner wants you to think! We spoke with Decinda of Sugar & Spice Events for an inside perspective on their latest wedding conquest.

When I look at these images (especially the ceremony ones) I get an overwhelming sense of calm. The clear blue sky and mountain backdrop make for a serene atmosphere that makes me want to sing... Sound of Music style. While the end result is nothing short of spectacular, the reality was a steep hill that was not vehicle friendly, 6 staff working madly to erect a last minute frame, and a supplier's truck ending up with a gaping hole in the side after being run off the road!

This is the world of events, the one that we aim to keep our clients blissfully unaware of. And on this day, and all days, it came together in a truly stunning way.

We met with Meagan and Rhys years ago and only got into the planning a few months before the wedding. Meagan is a creative visionary and it was such a joy to work with someone willing to push the boundaries and create a wedding unique to their personality. We were inspired by the relaxed Boho elegance of Kate Moss' wedding and the muted colour scheme and raw elements perfectly suited the natural surrounds of the venue.

The ceremony was set at the top of a hill overlooking Mt Warning. Bentwood Chairs provided seating for 140 something guests and a large wooden structure created a picture frame for the incredible scenery. After the ceremony guests were treated to a drinks buffet with personalised cocktails and refreshments.

Back down the hill at the renowned Mavis's Kitchen, a jaw-dropping wedding reception awaited the guests. Pre-dinner drinks and canapés were served in a marquee which held a photo booth, lounge area and bespoke bar. Guests were entertained with a variety of lawn games including chess, bocce and croquet.

As the sun set, they took their places at 16m long banquet tables, overlayed in dusty pink chiffon and decorated with brass vases brimming with white, pink and pastel blooms from White Ivy Design. The crowning glory were rows of suspended lamps that provided subtle lighting over the central tables, and festoon lights glittering above the tables and dance floor. Guests danced the night away under the stars in a place that can only be described as heaven on earth.
