Simple & Chic Music Inspired Wedding in Lancashire | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

With Andrew being a guitar player, it was only natural for Emma and Andrew to have a music inspired wedding day on the 22 nd February 2014. They had fun music décor and live entertainment.

They held their wedding at Lancashire Manor in their Great Hall and so kept the decoration simple and chic. They went for Gypsophila as their main flower choice, candelabras and bridesmaids in teal.

Emma looked super beautiful in her Justin Alexander lace gown and Rachel Simpson shoes. Oh so lovely.

Thanks goes to Project Valentine for sharing their wonderful imagery with us today.

We looked for a venue for almost a month of disputes before we came across Lancashire Manor almost by accident and it was perfect. It was pretty straight forward from there on in.

Next the colour - we had been to a few weddings the previous year that were purple, and didn't want to go down the winter Red look, and thought Teal would be a good winter colour and we paired it up with silver/grey.

Andy wanted a retro/vintage looking suit instead of the traditional tails, and we tried to keep the theme with the bridesmaids trying to go for a 60s esque look. The cars were an easy choice because we love VW campervans and again, in keeping with a retro theme.

I would traipse the internet daily on my lunch at work for ideas, and Pinterest, etsy and facebooks 'wedding find it buy it' page. They made my life so much easier. One idea flowed into another.

I always wanted a lace dress, and wanted that reflected in our theme, so I used a lot of doilies, brooches and pearls in our stationery and around the room.

The dress to me was quite classic, so I wanted accessories to match. I found some gorgeous Rachel Simpson shoes - quite art deco, and crystal earrings, and hair comb from Etsy.

Whilst the guest arrived at the venue, we had a harpist welcome them playing a collection of current and popular songs, but the most important things to us were the songs playing during the wedding breakfast. Our favourite sort of music is 'indie/alternative', so a lot of thought and consideration went into the music because it is something that is important to both of us. We went through a list of songs we compiled together, eventually narrowing it down to about 3 hours.

We kept the details of all the music choices a secret, including our first dance which was an Artcic Monkeys cover of 'Baby Im Yours',

I chose a knee length teal skater style dress with a boat neck line, and a silver sash. The adults had a brooch of their choice on the sash, a silver shawl and silver grey suede shoes. The children ballerina length teal dress with a thicker silver sash, bowed at the back of their dress, with an ivory cardigan, and ivory sparkly shoes.

They were all very easy going with the choices I made for them and looked beautiful on the day!

The Flowers... I wanted to keep the flowers fairly simple. Our main choice of Gypsophila - a simple and elegant white flower, and accompanied it with white Roses, white Ranunculus, with brooches and pearls.

My bouquet was made up of gypsophilia, white Roses, white Ranuculus, vintage brooches and pearls. The bridesmaids bouquets where soley gypsophilia, as where the bridal party button holes. The grooms button hole was gypsophilia and a white rose. I also made button holes for the Page boy, and the Grandparents, from buttons, badges and pearls.

Our venue dresser (Nicola at Sitting Pretty), had some lovely damask white chair covers - and we decided to dress the room with the grey/silver sashes and swags (much easier to colour match than the teal), with lots of candles.

We used our bouquets to dress the top table, and the guest book table in a simple vase.

We kept a music theme; the table plan - each table was represented using a vinlyl single, with the list of people on that table overlaid. The table numbers were on a vinyl single on each table. The card box was one of Andy's guitar cases. We even had sheet music candle holders on the tables in the area outside the room.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous! An adults only resort stretching 1.5miles down a golden beach, with swim up rooms and swim up pool bars. Perfect! Within 35 minutes of Cancun, and 25 minutes of Playa Del Carmen we could get out on excursions too.

As we were on honeymoon the hotel gave us a bottle of chilled champagne on arrival, romantic breakfast in bed, a candlelit dinner on the beach and a couples massage, as well as a turn down service most evenings, returning to a mood lit room, with romantic music playing and sweets on our pillow.

It was such a romantic and tranquil place. You could go for quiet walks hand in hand, have intimate dinners, see other couples on their honeymoons and occasionally come by couples who have been together decades.
