Black Gown Bridal Inspiration Shoot

Black Gown Bridal Inspiration Shoot

We're seeing more and more coloured wedding gowns and we're loving it! From pale pastel hues to dark lace numbers like this one photographed by Pam Cooley Photography. Coupled with Autumnal florals, this black wedding dress remains fine art and elegant. We've seen black wedding gowns becoming more popular recently and none more glamourous than the Vera Wang 2012 range. We know that tradition dictates brides should wear angelic white, or a colour as close to it as possible, but these days anything goes. A luxe winter wedding, dressed in black, atmospheric candlelight, possible snow; it all sounds terribly romantic to us. White on a cold and grey day would not have the same visual impact.

We're not talking about an understated LBD here. We're talking a spectacular full-length Vera Wang of course, so there would be no possibility of any guests outshining the bride. Many designers have created black versions of their gowns. Enzoani offers beautiful dresses with black tulle overlays and we can see many brides being swayed by these. Times are changing; bridesmaids and guests wear white to weddings, while funeral invites often request guests wear anything but black. Tradition has been turned on its head and brides are savvy enough to know that it's the shape, style and fabric of a dress rather than its colour which makes a gown stand out.

From Pam Cooley: " For this Fall styled shoot we created a beautiful fall colored bouquet and it needed a black gown to make it POP in a different way! It was also very close to Halloween for a hallows eve inspired look."
