Rustic Intimate Wedding with a First Look

Morning lovelies! It's been a while since we shared an intimate wedding on these pretty pages, and today's is a real beauty! Kitten & Michiel planned a relaxed garden wedding with friends and family near their home in the Netherlands. Their venue is a real hidden gem - a stunning B&B complete with covered barn and the prettiest grounds. Despite the traditional setting, their rustic, DIY wedding had a few unconventional twists - from the Groom's tartan suit to an Alice in Wonderland cake. They even treated their guests to an unexpected wedding breakfast - with Pizza's being served to order from a trailer! Thankfully the sun shone all day, so after an emotional first look, Kitten got to have the outdoor celebration she hoped for captured by photographer Anouschka Rokebrand.
We met at work. Michiel's nickname was Mr Grumpy but to me he was always nice. He helped me move to The Hague and that's when we started dating. He proposed on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, at Neist point lighthouse. Beautiful scenery, a beautiful day and the perfect question! Our venue was a little B&B called I bought my dress at 'Michiel wore a tailor-made suit in grey and dark blue check from Society Shop, and our daughter wore an ivory dress with a cape made in the same fabric as the his suit. My florist was Kim Romijn, a close friend. We chose a natural style for the flowers the bouquets for me and Anna, our daughter. We wanted the flowers to add just a tat of colour to the day, but nothing too much and she made it look perfect. The blue hyacinth in my bouquets matched the blue in Michiel's suit and I had one in my hair as well. De Bruidshoek' in Leiden, the Netherlands. It was called Blanche from Rembo Styling. Belle Bella Styling created my wedding day look, she put my hair up with a braid and some loose ends finished it. She did my make up too with lots of natural colours and nothing too much. Frankrijk Noord Zoet Goed Taarten from Vlissingen made us an Alice In Wonderland cake with the time set at 11:55 - a practical joke between the groom and me. We had three layers with three different flavours; chocolate, tiramisu and champagne. The top layer was formed as a teapot, my favourite drink. The cake was all pale pink to match with the pink champagne from France we bought last summer at a local farm. Anouschka Rokebrand was our photographer, together with her husband Raymond. We knew them from the wedding of friends of ours. What we like about their work is the eye for details. They don't miss a smile, a little gesture, and tiny details in decorations or clothing... Everything is on the photos! And those are the only touchable memory of a day that was and will hopefully stay the best day of our lives! in Westkapelle, Zeeland, near the coast in the south-western part of the Netherlands. We visited a couple of years ago and have always said that if we'd ever marry, we'd do it there. The ambiance is magnificent, and we could stay on the premises the whole day with all our family and close friends. 
We wanted a very laid back and intimate garden wedding, with some vintage touches. We wanted vintage lace and natural colours. At first I wanted pink & green with touches of wood, but I ended up adding blue and grey shades in too. Inspiration came from a lot of magazines, mostly Home and Garden, Libelle and VT Wonen. And of course the internet! We bought a lot of things at Ikea, Xenos and Action - the last two shops are local discount shops. We put lace on the vases and added strings with coloured letters on the buckets of drinks to let people know what could be found inside. We had candles with roses on them placed on wood. We used old vegetables jars as glasses, and added paper bands around them so a name could be written on it. We had grey linen and white lace tablecloths. We had a wooden mailbox with an old key on it where people could give us 'the key to a great marriage' advice. Our daughter, Anna, had a vintage pink car to ride around the garden!
