From the Bride

Be very "in the moment". The day will be done before you know it so you want to be able to remember special moments when you're looking back. For example, getting into your dress, I wanted so badly to get that beautiful dress on quickly so I could go see Jon and do our first look photos with him. But I had to slow down and pause, tell myself, "ok, I am putting on my dress.. the dress that I have been waiting almost a year to wear!" It really was a special moment for me to share with my mom, mother in law, and bridesmaids.

Steal Worthy Idea

Ok, now a planning tip: When you are sending out your response cards, take a pencil and lightly and in very small writing place a number on the back and then on your guest list put that number next to the corresponding guest name. That way if someone does not put their name on the line, that is obviously meant for THEIR NAME, you can figure out who it was that was sending you the response. Think it won't happen? It will! You would be surprised how many people don't put their names or number of guests that are coming! A friend made a beautiful presentation cake that saved us 2,000 on a wedding cake and we had a dessert bar instead. It also made our cake so much more special being that one of my best friends made it and it was gorgeous! We also only offered beer and wine so we saved a lot on an open bar, which had no impact on our guests' fun! We used ceremony site flowers to decorate at the reception. So we took an approach of saving in areas that we could so that we were able spend a little bit more for the things that were really important to us

Words from the Vendors

From Heather Elizabeth Photography:
Ali and Jon had a sweet tandem bike theme for their May wedding at the Four Seasons, Santa Barbara With a color scheme of grey and soft pinks, it fit beautifully with her glamorous Jason Alexander Dress and glitzy accessories. Since the bride was gluten intolerant, instead of a full wedding cake their close friend made them a gluten free cake for them to cut, and then had a dessert bar for all of their guests to enjoy later.
