A sunny sunflower Engagement shoot - Lee and Kelly

Today we have a lovely sunny engagement shoot by Marie Wootton - Meet Lee and Kelly!! We love there laid back vibe of their shoot and the use of that beautiful sunflower!! Over to the happy couple... We wish you a very happy wedding this coming weekend!

We met through our friends. My best friend is married to his friend. In 2009 a whole bunch of us stayed in a castle in Scotland for New Year. I got on really well with Lee over the few days. During the drive home my best friend Ami said we'd should go out on a date. When we got home I added him on Facebook, we got chatting and he asked me out on a date.

Lee was a true gentlemen, he picked me up and we went out for drinks in our favourite town called Harpenden, (where we now live). We went to a couple of bars and had such a laugh together. I thought at the time I was the Sambuca queen, so challenged him to doing shots, which proved I couldn't handle Sambuca anymore after my uni days. We had a fun night, however did feel a bit queasy on the drive home. But in true gentlemen style he looked after me and dropped me off. The next day he asked me out for date number 2!

Lee proposed in my most favourite country and place in the world - Cathedral Cove in New Zealand. It means a lot to me as during our first year together I went to live in New Zealand for 3 months, I wanted to work there and travel by myself. But missed him so much he came out to see me for 3 weeks. We made some amazing friends, and when we went back there in January 2013 to stay with our friends, we travelled the North as he had never done it. I took him to the beautiful Cathedral Cove in Coromandel, you have to walk for 45 minutes before arriving down some steps at the gorgeous cove. We were sitting on the beach, the sun was just starting to set. It had been an amazing day, and a really good atmosphere as it was a Kiwi bank holiday and he didn't want to leave. I said we better go and find our accommodation. As I went to get up, he popped the question. I screamed in surprise as I was not expecting it and of course said yes. Luckily there were only a few people left on the beach. We celebrated the night in a hostel with bunk beds, true backpacker style.

We're getting married at Hexton Manor on 23rd August 2014. As soon as we saw Hexton Manor in Hertfordshire, we knew that was the place we wanted to get married. We're hoping if the weather is nice to get married outside by the lake, but if not we'll be having our ceremony in the Manor house, which is stunning. After the ceremony we'll be having our wedding breakfast and reception in the marquee, which is in the walled garden. You have to go through a little side door, and it feels like a secret garden, which I love. The marquee and gardens are beautiful. It suits us as we're very laid back and not traditional and I'm so creative, so I love the fact I can put my own stamp on it.

Walking down the aisle and saying my vows to the man I love has to be up there as one of the most important things of the day. But also having all our friends and family in one place, enjoying the day, having fun and celebrating our wedding day will mean the world to us.

Our engagement shoot was so much fun to do, it was just what we were looking for. We really wanted fun, natural shots and that's what we got. I love the festival look, so made sure I wore a dress and a flower garland to compliment that look. We choose Rothamsted Park just down the road from us, for the shoot. We were a bit worried about the weather at first, as it was cloudy. But just as Marie started snapping away, the sun came out and it was a beautiful evening. We brought our own blue and pink vintage bikes, which Lee painted himself and I got the gorgeous sunflowers to put in the basket. It was the perfect look we were going for and we're so pleased with Marie's pictures.

Marie Wootton is an amazing photographer, I was so pleased when I found her. It's just what we were looking for. I really wanted fun, in the moment, natural shots. I'm not a bride that's into traditional, posed shots, so it was perfect. She's really easy to work with and made us feel comfortable straight away. Especially Lee who hates having his photo taken. I'd thoroughly recommend her to anyone I know that is looking for those kind of pictures. and saying my vows to the man I love has to be up there as one of the most important things of the day. But also having all our friends and family in one place, enjoying the day, having fun and celebrating our wedding day will mean the world to us.

Thanks for sharing your story with us guys.. And thanks for Marie Wootton for sharing her lovely pictures... xx
