Luna and Carlos chose The Washington Club, a historic country club in the bride's hometown, for the backdrop of their lovely wedding day. We're really loving their style-classic with sweet, modern details. Leila Brewster was on hand to capture all of the gorgeous details and we know you are going to love the romance and pale pink glow of the day!

What made the wedding special and unique?

I loved how intimate and personal the wedding felt. The day was a true extension of my husband and myself, from the music to the decor. It was extremely challenging to have kept the guest list under fifty, but I loved that we were able to spend time with each individual person that night. The venue was extremely special because it's in my hometown area and I remember my mother telling me years ago, "I hope that you'll get married here." I was so excited for Carlos' family and friends to explore where I grew up!

Also, Jessica Tocko from A Polished Plan was incredible. She made the entire process from beginning to end so enjoyable. I'll never forget the moment I walked into the venue and saw my vision so beautifully executed thanks to the team at A Polished Plan.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
What were some touches added to make it personal?

Choosing the gown was overwhelming for me! I probably tried on fifty and felt like I could have continued trying them on forever. There are so many beautiful options out there and eventually I just said, "Ok, I feel amazing in this and it's sparkly, so I'm done!" I found the dress at House of Botticelli in Bronxville, where my sister in law found her dress 15 years ago. I loved that it was from a NYC designer, Paula Varsalona, who does all her work in-house.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

My father is a glassblower and sculptor. He'd made a gorgeous handblown wedding goblet with two stems that Carlos and I drank out of and toasted to in unison. Our wedding favors were hand blown pyramids also made by my father, meant to be placed in your home or office to attract good luck. One of my favorite DIY elements were the escort feathers, which were dipped in gold glitter and placed in a box of moss. We love seeing the feathers and pyramids displayed in our friend's homes!

After the ceremony and pictures, Carlos and I snuck up to a lofted section of the venue for a private moment together. We looked down on the setup just as the candles were being lit, right before guests were to arrive for cocktails. We sipped champagne and looked at each other with big goofy smiles thinking, "We are married! Look at our wedding! This is really happening!" It was a sweet moment and a great suggestion from a friend who said to take some time alone together to reflect on the glory of it all.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Carlos and I met during the summer of 2011 in the middle of an epic heat wave. We had both escaped NYC and were at a pool party in Sag Harbor. With a little encouragement from my best friend, I swam up to Carlos and introduced myself. He claims he was about to do the same but there's no denying that I was totally the initiator! We spent the afternoon talking in the pool until we were prunes and then went out dancing that night. He immediately took me out to dinner the very next night when we returned to the city and we've been inseparable from that weekend on. On Carlos' birthday nearly 2 years after we met, he proposed at home by tying a pink ribbon onto our cat Eleanor's collar that read, "Will you please marry my Dad?" It has truly been nothing short of a fairytale since day one together!
