5 Tips for Your Las Vegas Honeymoon

Planning your Las Vegas honeymoon? We have five tips to ensure you make the most out of your special vacation!

Choose the right accommodations.

When it comes to accommodations, you will find a vast selection in Las Vegas. Discuss the type of honeymoon the two of you want. Is your goal to save as much money as possible? There are plenty of decent budget hotels off the Strip. Find one with a shuttle or an affordable rental car option, because it will be difficult to walk to the places you want to visit. If you want a vacation filled with gambling, drinking, and in a party atmosphere, then you definitely want to stay in the center of the action. Find a hotel on the Strip that meets your price point. Many hotels also offer packages, so make sure to research if one of those is suited for you two. And if you want a Vegas honeymoon that is more"desert" than casino, stay in one of the many luxury resorts on the outskirts of Las Vegas. You can still spend an evening at the casinos, but the rest of your vacay can be spent in decadent relaxation.

See at least one show.

Do not go to Vegas without seeing at least one show. It would be like going to the Bahamas and never setting foot on the beach. From Cirque du Soleil extravaganzas to arena performances by your favorite musical artists, Las Vegas has something for everyone. Granted, these will not be the cheapest shows you will ever attend. But in Vegas, the old adage, "You get what you pay for," is almost always true.

Leave the Strip.

There are so many things to see beyond this one stretch of road. Take a long day trip to the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. There are also tours available if you prefer not to do all the driving. Also within driving distance is Death Valley National Park. Especially if you don't live in the region, missing out on these Southwest landmarks while visiting Vegas would be a shame.

Staying in Las Vegas but leaving the Strip also has its money-saving perks for entertainment and spa treatments. Every major hotel usually has a spa, but if you venture a mile or two away you can find the places locals love for their facials and massages at a fraction of the cost.

Scheduling your day is everything.

Yeah, Las Vegas gets really, really hot. This city stays up late, so there's no reason not to relax when the temperature is highest. Plan your day so that you are spending the bulk of your afternoon indoors (naptime!), or at least not doing a bunch of walking. Late afternoon is certainly not the time you want to be trekking from one end of the Strip to the other.

Set clear budgets.

While Las Vegas is known for having bargains, it's also a destination that does luxury on an epic scale. If you can, splurge a little on what you love. Eat at world-class restaurants. Skip the free well drink while you are playing slots in favor of a truly great martini. These little things enhance a vacation, and Las Vegas knows how to do them right. But you can also over-indulge if you aren't careful, so set clear budgets ahead of time for how much you want to spend on gambling, entertainment, and dining out.
