We fell in love with this style it yourself editorial that featured in Modern Wedding DIY issue five. It's the perfect balance of quirky and pretty and there are lots of little ways that you can make it your own. Use these gorgeous ideas to style your kitchen tea, engagement party or vintage casual wedding!

Despite its name, the ever popular vintage trend has seen some changes over the years. A fanciful look, infused with quirky details, offers loads of opportunities for DIY touches in areas such as stationery, china, table linen and floral arrangements. The colour palette usually features pastel tones but to give a touch of sophistication, we have added some deeper hues like turquoise blue and soft green. Assorted crystal glassware and bud vases are mixed with the blue mason jars to display the flowers down the centre of the table. There is no need to stress over the crafting of the perfect flower arrangement with this look. Often only a few stems, or a small bundle grouped together, can create the impact you want.

Instead of being predictable, include quirky decorative floral touches by taping fresh flowers to the wall or randomly inserting flowers through the lace of the tablecloth. These inexpensive ideas help to dress up the room.

White feathers have been transformed into pretty sparkling details by spraying the tips with gold paint and, while wet, dipped into a tray of gold glitter. Tap off the excess glitter and leave to dry. Cut slots either side of the guests' names on the place cards with a kraft knife and insert feathers. To make the feather chair garland, simple hot glue some feathers to a length of thick jute leaving enough jute free to tie around the back of the chair.

How tempting do these macaron favours look, all packaged up in the cutest little reusable glass jars? It's very unlikely that these little treats, that are everyone's favourite, will be around long enough to make it home.

Don't always play it safe and have everything looking too perfect! To add personality to the table, several vintage lace tablecloths have been casually draped over it, then set with mismatched dinnerware and cutlery and finished off with mismatched chairs.
