Why You Should Switch Up Your Foundation in the Spring

We love hearing from our panel of beauty pros about the latest and greatest beauty tricks. Today, we're lucky enough to hear from New York-based makeup artist who fills us in on why we should be switching out our foundation in the spring. Take it away Ashley!

There is nothing better than a new season, as it provides us an excuse to buy new clothes and new makeup! And just as you rotate your wardrobe during the fall, winter, spring and summer months, you should do the same with your makeup, especially your foundation. While a more hydrating, full-coverage formula works in the winter, spring is an entirely different ball game as the weather change is drastic. With the spring comes warmer, fresher air. You aren't dealing with freezing temps and dry indoor heat that can wreak havoc on your skin. Check out my tips on what you should look for in a spring foundation.

Go Lighter

Changing your moisturizer and foundation in the spring is a great way to refresh your makeup routine and deliver some lighter, dewier coverage to your face that will lend an overall glow and natural finish. Since the weather is lighter and warmer, you can go lighter in texture and even warmer in tone if you find your skin tone changes due to sun exposure. If you absolutely love the winter foundation you've been using, there are still ways to make it more wearable for the warmer months ahead.

Mix It Up

One way to keep your winter foundation in rotation is by taking a small amount of your fuller coverage foundation and mixing in a serum or light moisturizer to give it more of a tinted-moisturizer look and effect. Mixing a liquid illuminator in will also give you a nice glow, and, depending on the tone, some warmth.
