We weren't necessarily expecting Prince at 10a.m. in the Grand Palais this morning, but that's what we got ( "Take Me With You" from 1985)-along with layers and layers of ruffles, super chic fleece, and leather moto suits.

As it turns out, Creative Director Clare Waight Keller actually had '70s-era journalist and Moto Guzzi rider Anne France Dautheville on her mind for Fall 2016. Once you understand how all these references came together, the girly boho biker rocker chick becomes a pretty irresistible character.

On both the invite (shown first below) and the show program (second), Waight Keller and her team included letterpressed quotes from France Dautheville, fashion's new favorite traveler.

The idea of an excursion- the journey not just the destination-goes so well with free-flowing, beautifully easy dresses and hard-working rider gear. So on one hand it'll be a season of Evel Knieval racing stripes, ankle boots and Easy Rider skinny pants with scarf blouses ...

... and on the other it's all about signature Chloe -with an extra Marie Antoinette edge.

In terms of a topper-because it does get chilly out there on the road, or by the time the headlining band takes the stage- it's all about the fleece. Really, though: Chloe made polar fleece make sense.

Not feeling it? No problem. Here's an alternative:

After the show, our VP of designer apparel, Jennifer Wheeler remarked "I like the idea of a tough and tender girl ... all those ruffles, and all that leather."

And that about sums it up.
