Trend Alert: How to Use Prickly Pear Cactus Paddles for your Wedding

Have you ever heard of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon? It's when you come across a new word or thing, and then all of a sudden you see it everywhere.
Well the last week has been like that for me with cactus paddles.
Succulents have been a decor and bouquet staple for quite a while now, but the pads or paddles of the prickly pear are starting to make a stand as the brand new wedding cactus du jour.

It all started with this cool interior shot (below) I spotted below last week which I instantly screen-grabbed (I love getting wedding inspiration from interior design!) and then we shared these simple but so effective calligraphy escort cards by Alli K Design on Instagram over the weekend.
One is a cool idea, but around here, two is officially a trend!
These paddles are so chic, textured and versatile that they could be used in so many different ways, for minimal urban weddings, luxe desert celebrations, or cool bohemian-inspired events. They're also a clean alternative to overtly feminine flowers or flowing foliage.

From backdrops or centrepieces to table numbers or cake-toppers, there are endless creative details you could adapt to include these cool cacti in your day.
