We have such an awesome wedding to share with you lovely people today captured by one of my favourite wedding photographers, McKinley Rodgers. Now I know I shouldn't have favourites but I love the way these guys capture weddings. They also filmed the day too and their beautiful video can be found at the end of this post and it is well worth a view.

Inspired by their family, friends and festivals, Hannah and Zak's wedding ticks a lot of boxes for me. From the gorgeous embellished bridesmaid dresses in blush, nude and dove grey to the relaxed quirky style of the groom and his men - everything just marries together so well in this wedding. We LOVE the venue with its herb gardens and chamomile fields and we also LOVE all the decor such as the ceremony fire place (read our post about the wedding fireplace - they look so good as a backdrop) and all the DIY details. We especially love the vintage postcards used for guests to write messages as an alternative take on a message book. After the guests had written their message, they could peg it to a line that hung inside the tipi for people to read. Such a great idea and it looks great.

When asked about what the inspiration was behind their wedding, here is what Hannah and Zak said....

'Togetherness', yes not a real word but the word kept popping into my head. I wanted everyone to feel included and to know how much they meant to us. Everything I put together was with the intention of creating a relaxed day with plenty of time for people to mingle, unwind and have a brilliant time. Good music and food was top of the list and everything else sort of followed. I drew a drawing of what I had in mind about a year before the wedding and amazingly that drawing came to life, such a special experience.

Zak proposed to me in the late afternoon sun in the shallows of the sea on Tallow beach in Byron Bay. I'd been out for a swim and as I was walking back he started walking out towards me and got down on one knee in the ankle deep water.

My dress was by Anna Campbell. We live in Melbourne so I was lucky enough to have her store on my doorstep. I was a barefoot bride and just had the most amazing sparkly Mahalia foot cuffs that I bought with my dress at Anna Campbell.

I entrusted Roberta from The Good Florist to make me a natural, not over-sized flower crown, so happy I did as it was perfect!

My engagement ring and wedding ring are both slim gold bands with bateau diamonds from Claire Kinder. Other than that I kept my jewellery simple with moonstone studs from Samantha Willis.

I had 6 bridesmaid dresses to get with 1 bridesmaid living in LA, 1 in New York, 1 in Melbourne, 1 in Whistler and only 2 in the UK. I fell in love with the Adrianna Papell dresses and wanted to go mismatched but tonally complimentary with their dresses. I was able to shop first with NY bridesmaid and LA bridesmaid and from those two dresses amazingly everyone found a dress (lots of online shopping and crossing fingers!) that went with the initial two. The bridesmaids look was one of my favourite parts of the whole day, I was so happy with how their dresses came together, I was actually so happy and excited I tried on all their dresses the night before the wedding - recommended for a laugh!

Both our ceremony and reception were held in a big field on an English Herb Farm in Hampshire. The most amazing chamomile fields surrounded our field and we timed our weekend perfectly so they'd be in full bloom, such an amazing sight for the guests as they drove down to our field.

We had the ceremony smack bang in the middle of everything, the 20 bell tents and bigger tipis were an awesome backdrop and my endlessly creative extended family helped add all the finishing touches.

South Coast Glamping provided us with 20 bell tents including a 'honeymoon' tent (not that we saw much of it as we didn't get to bed til 3am and were up again for a campers breakfast at 8am). They came the day before and set up everything very efficiently. If guests didn't want to book a bell tent they were free to pitch their own too.

For the ceremony, guests sat on hay bales covered in hessian sack, each seat had a cone full of natural confetti from the herb farm and a homemade badge with personalised writing or images relating to us and the wedding. We had 3 maids of honor, 3 best men, 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsman and 2 1.5 year old adorable page boy. We had grown up bridal party sit in semi-circles around us.

As we were legally married at Islington Town Hall on the Wednesday before the wedding we were free to have who we wanted to marry us on the big day. We asked my cousin's husband Seth, who is an incredible wordsmith and dear friend. We sent him a basic idea of how things would run and he beautifully filled in the blanks. We wrote our own vows and read them to each other then at the end danced down the aisle with our amazing bridal team. I walked down the aisle to - 'This Old Love' by Lior. We all danced back down the aisle to - 'Best of my Love' by The Emotions.

We used the very sweet Fabian from CLAW for nearly all our catering. We have a food truck here in Melbourne so were keen to go the street food vibe.

Canapés- Lobster sliders, scallops wrapped in bacon, 3 different types of arancini and grilled courgette stuffed with ricotta

Mains - Guests could pop up to the stall and pick what they wanted, options were crab, rib eye, or mozzarella and tomato all in various types of breads (brioche, foccacia, etc) with different accompaniments. Then we had a selection of salads and condiments for guests to help themselves to.

Dessert - We had ' La Gelatiera ' from London come up with their cart and serve delicious gelato.

Breakfast - Bacon and eggs on brioche rolls with pastries, cold pressed juices, coffee and tea again cooked up by CLAW

A wedding planner was not something I was interested in the slightest, it was hard work but with incredible family and friends everything came together.

I spent a lovely weekend with my aunt and uncle making wooden signs in fun colours, the pinnacle of which was a Caribbean style mismatched wooden sign with all the places guests came from Internationally and the distance they had travelled.

We had warm festoon lighting held up on poles surrounding the reception area which really helped pull the whole thing in.

We used the wooden tables and bench seats provided by Stunning Tents and they also provided a sofa, fire pit, fairy lights inside the tents, festoon lighting for the front of the tent and tipi torches to light up the path ways.

For outside seating we were all hands on deck and moved the hay bales from the ceremony and dotted them around the place. In the evening we had another couple of big bowl style fire pits for guests to sit around. We also had deck chairs, which were provided by our great bar - Vintage Bar Box.

For our guestbook I bought 100 or so vintage travel postcards from Zazzle for guests to rummage through, pick one and write us a message. We strung up some string between a couple of the posts in the tipi so they could be added and make postcard bunting as they got filled in. They looked fab all together.

Sooo hard to pick but if I was pushed i'd say dancing to the last song of the night with the majority of the wedding guests arm in arm on the dance floor. Looking out and seeing people who didn't even know each other before today holding on to each other made me realised I had achieved my goal of 'togetherness'.

Our cake was a Pistachio cake with raspberry compote and a white chocolate ganache from the lovely Holly at The Floury. We asked for little gold flecks in the soft icing and then when Holly arrived with the cake she used the flowers we had on site to add finishing touches.

We had Smokestack Band, a 3-piece blues band for during the afternoon and then the 9-piece Soul Band Detroit Soul for the evening. Both exceeded expectations! We also had the family band, a now huge band with cousins from both sides of the family that only gets together for weddings or grandparents 80 ^th/90 ^th birthdays. etc. They performed 'I get around' by The Beach Boys (our surname is Round), I joined in and surprised Zak by singing 'Is this love' by Bob Marley and then to finish off an epic Disney medley!

Get a video! The vows and speeches were such a blur I was so relieved to have the video to go back to. I watched it the other today about 6 months after the wedding and am so happy to have it to take a peak back at what truly was the best day of our lives.
