Going down memory lane & I rediscovered this beautiful shoot that we created for @donnyzavalaphotography workshop. The videos that @outlivecreative captured from that weekend were so inspiring, I’m going to reshare them again in the next days. Is that ok with you? Every time I art direct & style a shoot, it’s a deep collaborative process with the creative team. But before I reach out to anyone, I always have to myself the hard questions, to help me discover what kind of story I'm trying to tell. What do I want the photographers to discover as they are shooting? How can I guide the entire creative team and take them on this journey with me? What's lacking in this world? What does the world need more of? For this shoot in particular, through the process the word “purity” came to me. The “outside” world vs the “inner” world. Purity became that word that I felt was not seen much “outside” but a word that was so desired internally. Through this, Donny and I, collaboratively, wanted the photographers that attended his workshop to leave all their troubles at the door and come with their hearts and eyes wide open. We wanted them to look through their lens as if they were seeing for the first time. And that's exactly what happened. As we were shooting this, the photographers were dripping wet from the rain and constantly pushed by the strong winds. It was definitely a challenge for everyone. But the entire creative team and the photographers were so driven to make this vision of “Purity” to happen. The model was graceful as can be and not complaining once. It was humbling and beautiful to be a witness of it all as “purity” was unfolding in front of us all. Purity came and it showed up in a big way.
