Put on your apron and grab a brush—for today’s nail tutorial we’re painting a masterpiece. We’ve decided that watercolor nails are the grown-up alternative to one of our favorite childhood pastimes. The best part is, kindergarten rules still apply—there are no mistakes! Get ready to unleash your inner artiste…

Supplies

A small paintbrush or old eyeliner brush An assortment of nail polishes (we stayed within the pink family for our manicure) A paper plate

Directions

Raid your polish supply and pick your favorites. Paint a pale base. A light colored base allows you easily to paint darker colors on top. We used essie Guchi Muchi Puchi. Create your artist’s palette. Pouring out a little polish onto a paper plate makes for easy application (plus, it’s more fun this way). Begin your masterpiece. Pick up your paintbrush and add strokes of polish wherever you please. Be sure to wipe your brush clean between colors. We ended up using MAC Nail Lacquer in Girl About Town, Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Fuchsia Fever, essie Boom Boom Room, and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Nail Color in Ruby Sequin. Finish with a sheer wash. To really give it that watercolor feel, apply a sheer lacquer over each nail to blend the hues together. We used Rimmel French Manicure Pro in French Rose.
