Christmas was that much sweeter for Jade and Niko, who got engaged on the merry holiday. “I was trying on a beautiful blue leather jacket for Niko and his family,” Jade explains. “As I was modelling my new gift I put my hand in the pocket and found a tiny ring box. Niko grabbed it out of my hand, got down on one knee and proposed.” Together, the pair planned an elegant wedding day with a retro 1980’s twist. “We had an ’80’s cover band, and we gave all of our guests sunglasses, à la Tom Cruise in Risky Business, in different neon colours,” Jade explains. “Everyone wore them all night, and it put all our guests in the mood for dancing!” For a late-night snack, guests enjoyed a variety of scrumptious desserts as well as a poutine bar featuring a wide selection of various gravies, meats and cheeses.
