NYFW Trend Recap: Bare Faces and Pops of Color

NYFW Trend Recap: Bare Faces and Pops of Color

via

In a matter of eight days our backstage beauty team hit up 34 New York Fashion Week shows, grazing shoulders with industry big whigs the likes of Bobbi Brown, François Nars, Deborah Lippmann, Charlotte Tilbury and and taking notes on spring's most popular makeup crazes.

What stood out to them? For one, natural, effortless makeup that left the focus on inner beauty. Skin was fresh and radiant and eyes were often left bare, except for a swoosh of nude shadows here and there. If there was a pop of color, you can bet it was on the lips like the pouts M·A·C Cosmetics sent down the runway for Zac Posen. Expect glowing complexions, mushroom-tinged shadows and undone brows come spring for an easy au naturale look.

On the other end of the trend spectrum, spring came to life with soft color moments on the eye, checks, lip and nails. It was all about pops of pink, mint and coral, likeLaura Mercier's teal swoop that covered the whole eyelid at the Jenny Packham show. Build upon your bare face with bold, eyeliner applied in modern minimalist fashion (see Philip Lim's inner/outer liner play) and soft, colorful smokey eyes that veer more towards modern bohemian than '80s rock. London launched with a range of rosy hues. From soft pastel blushes to more sugary tones, pink is confirmed as a key color of the season.
