#113: watermelon mojito

Happy Monday my wedding loving ladies!

You know, one of my favourite times of the week is sitting down to create the next week’s inspiration board.  I’m often asked where I find my inspiration, and it’s such a hard question to answer! It might be the colour of a bridesmaid’s dress in one of our latest real weddings, it might be the floral design of a new stationery collection, or equally it could be a reflection in a puddle, fabric in my favourite haberdashery store, or interior of my favourite coffee shop.  As clichéd as it sounds, inspiration really is all around us. It’s just up to us to notice it!

This week I was inspired by a post Emily wrote last week which included a cute little idea for watermelon pops.  I instagrammed a shot, and within moments had a raft of comments about how clever they were (she is a clever one that Emily).  And seeing as how that inspired you, this week I thought I’d share a little more watermelon inspiration.  Teamed with mint, watermelon is a bold and fresh new take on the coral & aqua palettes popular a couple of years ago.  Watermelon mojito anyone?!

After welcoming your guests with a refreshing cocktail (what else!), wow them with bold, bright florals.  Fluffy peonies, pink proteas and romantic roses teamed with springs of mint and eucalyptus for a gorgeous menthol scent.  How about separates for your ‘maids?  This bride’s best girls wore stylish pink pencil skirts and pretty blouses for a sophisticated look.  The palette lends itself to a little ombre, use shades of watermelon colours for your escort cards and pin in frames for a contemporary take on the seating plan.  And how seriously gorgeous is this bride’s dress?  A watermelon, coral and gold beaded corset makes a stunning modern statement.

Are you using watermelon and mint in your wedding palette? Tell us all about it in the comments below!
