3 Unexpected Ways to Wear Red, White, and Blue…Makeup

There’s no better way to celebrate America the beautiful than with a little red, white and blue beauty. While we’d never discourage a bold red lip, a fun-filled day like the Fourth is the perfect excuse to experiment with color in some more unexpected ways.

In your hair…

Colored locks have been catching our eyes for a while. If you’re like us, however, you’re not ready to commit to adding permanent rainbow streaks to carefully treated hair. Take this holiday as an opportunity to test drive the look with hair chalk instead. We love blue tips on blondies (try Tint Hair Chalk in Blue Steel) and red for dark-haired beauties (try Colorsmash Hair Shadow in Firecracker).

On your nails…

Sure, you could rock a French manicure with white tips, but white half moons are a bit more unexpected and so chic. Try using Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Porcelain Party with a navy color like Lancôme Vernis in Love in Bleu De Flore for a look that’s both festive and refined. The America flag + these navy and white nails…we can already picture the Instagram.

On your eyes…

Blue eye shadow is the obvious (and a classic) choice for the Fourth of July. We, however, will be giving our holiday beauty look a twist with white eye shadow. L’Oréal Studio Secrets Professional Eye Shadow in Frosted Icing has just a hint of shimmer to keep the look from falling flat. We recommend pairing white eyes with a mega dose of lush lashes–bonus points if you make those eyelashes red or blue (we love Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash in Dark Blue)!

How will you be rock red, white and blue this Fourth of July? Let us know below!
