Scottish Elopement – Destination Wedding in Argyll, Scotland

One country that we really don’t feature enough of is Scotland so we are super pleased to feature this gorgeous destination wedding in Dunoon, on the picturesque Cowall Peninsula in Argyll. Canadian born Heather and Mike met a number of years ago through close friends and after a very romantic proposal in a hot air balloon on a beautiful summer’s evening, they set about planning their wedding.  They chose to get married abroad  because in their eyes, it was a once in a lifetime kind of opportunity and eloping seemed like a really romantic thing to do. When choosing the location, Scotland was  a natural choice for them and today we are not only showing you  their wedding, but a a snippet of their engagement shoot too because well, it looked like they had a lot of fun! Embracing the rain, they hit the streets of Edinburgh with their photographer, Craig Stephen and here it is!

One of the reasons that Heather and Mike chose Scotland was because the beautiful landscapes and abundance of castles seemed incredibly romantic to them (and us!).  Their wedding took place in the Castle House Museum, Dunoon, and was attending by very close family and friends.

Beautiful Bride!

How dapper is Mike in his vintage suit?! We love when the guys push the boat out a bit on their wedding day!

Heather and Mike planned everything themselves and although it was a great experience, Heather fills us in on the biggest challenge.

“One obvious challenge for us was not being able to check out venues in person and meet with people face to face as we were doing the planning all the way over in Vancouver, but we were able to communicate via email and over the phone and just relied on photos of venues and it all worked out fine in the end”

For Heather and Mike, the most memorable moment of the day was waking up to such a beautifully perfect day.  The weather had been very cold and rainy the days leading up to the wedding, but turned out sunny, warm and beautiful and it really got the excitement level up for them!

Thank you so much to the wonderful Craig Stephen for sending Heather and Mikes Scottish elopement our way and to the happy couple, we hope you have a long and beautiful life together!
