#121: peach & plum

#121: peach & plum

Good morning brides-to-be!  The weekend has been decidedly grey and miserable, so at b.loved HQ I’ve been working from the sofa with copious amounts of tea.  But it got me thinking, if you’re planning a wedding in our most unpredictable of British summers how can you make sure your w-day scheme works come rain or shine?  I’m not talking practical tips here {I’ll leave that to our expert, Anna}, but rather how the colours and styling of your day can sing on a clear-blue-sky day, or add a pop of warmth and colour to a grey one.

Ladies, I think I have the (very pretty!) answer!  Peach or apricot tones work beautifully for a summer wedding, fresh, juicy and full of sunshine with a soft, romantic fuzziness.  Add in a touch of plum and you’ve got yourself a light and summery palette with a hint of warmth perfect for a late summer wedding when it’s not yet Autumn.  I’m talking lighter shades here, plum, heather & aubergine rather than the deep rich tones of Autumnal blackberry, fig and damson (oooh, doesn’t it all sound so delicious!).

Pair blousy David Austin roses with peachy astilbe and contrast with plum calla lillies for a bouquets with punch.  Perhaps ask your maids (or flower girls) to carry giant peach balloons down the aisle, tied with ribbons and lace or multicoloured fringe for something a little different.  Keep tables simple and summery with white linens and floaty organza overlays, simple floral arrangements, pretty crockery and cut-crystal glassware.  For a real statement that is contemporary yet romantic, hang your floral displays from above creating whimsical, overflowing floating arrangements.  Serve your guests summer sangria (recipe here) with a juicy peach tart as a final celebration of summer!
