Today we’re taking a look at one of the prettiest regions of Italy (although it’s really hard to pick just one!) the landlocked area of Umbria right in the heart of the country. Amidst its warm light and rolling hills can be found a wealth of artistic traditions as seen in the many beautiful basilicas and charming ancient towns. The three venues we’ve found each have that ‘fairytale’ quality that many search for when looking for a wedding venue in Italy.

Relais il Canaliccio

This hidden gem located near the town of Perugia can cater to weddings of up to 120 guests outside and up to 100 inside and can be hired exclusively. This really is a fairy-tale style venue which retains its castle structure featuring stunning views of the surrounding countryside from the terraces. Symbolic ceremonies can be held at various locations on the grounds and for Catholic ceremonies there is an intimate church next door to the venue. Accommodation exists for up to 130 guests at the Relais so it is possible to have the whole wedding party stay on site.

Hotel La Badia di Orvieto This beautiful and charming restored monastery is set in hills surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. The hotel features twenty-one rooms and five suites and is complete with a 12th century Romanesque church on site for ceremonies. The well respected Restaurant La Badia serves Umbrian dishes with local game, spicy cheese and olive oil from the owner’s estate. Villa Baroncino Situated between the towns of Orvieto and Siena, the Villa Baroncino is a refurbished olive mill lying on the border of Umbria and Tuscany. The estate comprises of two buildings, one with nine apartments and the other with four suites (one of which is used as the wedding suite). With its permanent on-site marquee the venue can host weddings of up to 200 guests. The marquee is an all-weather one equipped with sliding glass doors and heaters, along with panoramas of the estate’s olive groves, the beautifully manicured gardens and Lake Trasimeno.
