What’s a little rain on your wedding day – especially when it’s supposed to bring good luck with it! Buffy Dekmar captured this romantic Savannah wedding, rain and all, and I have to say – I just love all the happy emotion you can see in her photos!

I love this detail from the bride: “My favorite moment of that day was right before I walked down the aisle. I asked my dad if we could take just several seconds so I could truly take everything in: the ceremony, our friends and family standing there for us, our wedding party, and most of all, my husband at the end of the aisle who was staring into my eyes. It was such a beautiful and special moment that was all ours and that I will never forget.”

I truly believe that the attitude of the bride and groom set the tone for the wedding day – based on these photos, you can bet this was a fun celebration!

Lindsay scored her gorgeous veil on Etsy for a steal: “I had my hopes set on a cathedral length veil. I found one online for $700, another for $350, and finally found one for just $35 on Etsy!”

The bride’s thoughts on her rainy day wedding: “We spent months and months planning an outdoor wedding. The morning of my wedding I woke up to pouring rain, but in the grand scheme of things it really didn’t matter. That was the day I got to marry to love of my life and best friend. Ten minutes before I walked down the aisle, right after my father said a prayer, the rain stopped. My ushers dried all the chairs, everyone was seated, and we got through the whole ceremony and pictures. Shortly afterward, the rain started again. They say that rain is good luck on your wedding day, I guess we have an abundance of it!”

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  Cody and I chose Savannah, Georgia for our wedding because of the significance the city has to us. We took our very first vacation there as a couple and it was where we first fell in love. That first weekend in Savannah I knew he was the man I wanted to marry. Savannah being the location we would look back on when thinking of our wedding day seemed perfect, and it was!

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding?  We really wanted to make the wedding about us and our personality. When planning, I wanted to stick with classic simplicity. We were so lucky that the ambiance and atmosphere of downtown Savannah offered a gorgeous setting so we stuck with neutral colors. Southern Savannah charm is really what inspired us.

What was the best advice you received as a bride?  The best advice I received as a bride was to not get caught up in the day of preparations and the business of the day. The morning and day of the wedding, I really took the time to just be, and spend time with my bridesmaids, my mother, and reflect on the day. When it came time to get ready and walk down the aisle, my mood was calm and ready. I was in the perfect frame of mind to take in all the special moments.

What advice do you have for other brides? The best advice I would give is to make your wedding, and the decisions about your wedding, based solely on you, your spouse, and very close family.
