Hasn’t Autumn this year been beautiful? Golden leaves and glorious sunshine galore.

I adore the Autumn and many couples choose the Autumn months to hold their wedding. Those of you planning your Autumn wedding; behold for this afternoon I have some serious Autumnal wedding inspiration to share.

The most delightful blooms, sweet stationery and styling. Oh and the wedding cake is all kinds of amazing.

Thanks so much to Karen Flower Photography for sharing her images with us today, here is what she had to say about the shoot;

“Autumn is my favourite time of year with its warm rich colours and crisp bright days and I wanted to combine the tones and textures of autumn in a thoughtful way with a touch of DIY. We styled this rustic woodland themed shoot to show how special outdoor weddings can be and I hope we inspire couples to bring the beauty of nature and the seasons into their wedding day.

Together with talented make-up artist Catherine Bailey we brought in a fabulous collection of suppliers to create a relaxed bohemian look, showing this in the textures and tones of the table setting, the colours of the make up and by choosing a dress that was light and easy to wear and yet had beautiful detail.

Our team of suppliers were fantastic and a lot of fun to work with. We had an inspiration board on Pinterest and a Facebook group to share our ideas and it was great to see everyone’s talents come together on the day. Although everyone worked within the brief we were all able to bring our creativity and individuality to the shoot.

We knew the style of the dress would be important and when we came across Eliza Jane Howell’s beautiful designs we knew we had found something special and also something that would work for a boho styled wedding. Many of the dresses by Eliza Jane Howell had stunning beadwork and we choose something delicate and ethereal to complement a woodland feel. The dress, called ‘Joan’, has a sleeved cape with gorgeous beading around the edges and also framing the neckline.

The award winning Flo and Percy’s new Summer 2014 collection is soon to be launched and I just adored the ‘Spirit of Summer’ headpiece and knew it would look gorgeous with Michaela’s dark wavy hair and complement the beading on the wedding dress. The soft gold colour of the headband and the small pearl beads arranged in leaf like shapes was perfect for our bohemian woodland theme and framed Michaela’s face beautifully.

For hair and make-up Catherine choose warm golden tones for the eyes and a russet orangey-red lip reflecting the richness of autumnal leaf and berry colours. Our gorgeous model Michaela has long dark hair and this was softened with cascading bohemian curls and left loose to frame the face.

All flowers on the day were supplied and styled by the amazing Julia from Parsley and Rose. One of my recent clients had chosen Julia to do their wedding flowers and I knew when I was organizing this shoot that she would completely understand what we were trying to achieve. Julia had sourced all sorts of woodland treasures, moss covered logs, large oak leaves and clusters of cobnuts, and her selection of woodland style flowers and foliage in rich autumnal colours was perfect. And don’t you just love the black Dahlia!

Talking about cake… oh my. Having tasted just how delicious Rachel and Ella’s cakes are, I really wanted to use one of their Blue Berry Hill Cakes in the shoot and in keeping with a natural rustic look for the shoot I knew a naked cake would look fabulous. I’ve seen a few naked cakes at weddings already and to keep it in with a rustic autumn / winter theme what could be better than a naked fruit cake. To showcase the detail of the cake we kept the decoration simple with some white Wax flowers, Physalis and rich brown cobnuts as a topper.

To create the rustic woodland setting we used the grounds of the fab Gorse Hill De Vere Hotel near Woking in Surrey. Although the venue co-ordinator, Louise, had kindly given us a room for our shoot it was a beautiful sunny day in November so we choose to shoot the table setting outside, beneath a copper coloured beech tree. The very talented calligrapher Claire Gould from Calligraphy For Weddings provided us with beautiful hand written place settings. In keeping with the woodland theme, we used the Latin names of trees, like Quercus /Oak for the table name with an ink illustration of leaves and acorns on the end of a roll of brown parcel paper. Claire’s calligraphy is also shown in the beautiful detailed writing on the menu and chair tags for the bride and groom. We used our own vintage lace napkins and linen with pretty crockery and candleabras supplied by Rural Vintage completed the look.”
