As we plan our Summer 2014 calendar here at Wedding Sparrow HQ we can't wait for the first hints of sunshine. And as we live by the beach we thought it only appropriate we start our sun dances early this year to get this Summer party started. I'd love to attend a wedding at the beach but here in the UK we just can't rely on the weather as much to be kind to us and so the beach wedding isn't hugely popular. Until recently we also didn't have the ability to get married on a beach but thanks to Beach Weddings Bournemouth and their knack to see a great opportunity us Brits can finally marry on the beach whether it's raining or not! This styled wedding from Hawaii based film photographer Wendy Laurel is full of fun beach wedding inspiration for anyone thinking of getting married at home or abroad...

From Wendy : " Maui has a huge number of destination weddings. Many of those are simple two person or very small weddings on the beach. Myself and Erica from Couture Events Maui had the idea of showcasing Maui wedding vendors in a simple and elegant beach wedding inspiration. Most people coming to Maui are escaping winter at home and dreaming of the beach. Nothing screams Hawaii more than a vw van, some surfboards, beach cruisers and a pretty ceremony on the beach. The yellow and orange color theme came together after finding the orange vw van and thinking of classic surf color combinations. We added a pop of pink for fun in the streamers for the ceremony. The foods we chose on the menu and on the table, papaya and other hawaiian fruits, fish, organic salads, shave ice, and malasadas, are all local foods easily found on the island. As Maui has become more and more popular as a wedding destination, the caliber of wedding vendors on island has really increased. The elegant wedding dress is from a local designer who now dresses the stars, Maggie Coulombe, who handmakes her own dresses. The dress and the also handmade locally jewlery from Sophie Grace add a feel of elegance to the casual beach wedding. Shooting film works very well with the Hawaiian sun. Film is able to hold onto highlights even when shot directly backlight that would otherwise would be lost with digital imagery. Film handles the abundance of light here really well and brings out the natural intense colors of Hawaii."
