Rustic Bohemian Summer Charleston South Carolina Wedding At Boone Hall Plantation

The dress, the flowers, the succulent covered cake, the details, the location!! Today's gorgeous rustic summer wedding is another affirmation to me that Charleston, South Carolina weddings are where its at! Set on the ever dreamy & picturesque Boone Hall Plantation,Brooke Lassiter & Matt Nesbit took full advantage of everything a southern wedding could be, from getting married at the Cotton Dock in the marsh, to portraits under giant oaks dripping with Spanish moss, each moment beautifully captured by South Carolina wedding photographer Priscilla Thomas Photography! Brooke's bridal style is certainly a highlight, being equal parts chic, boho & wonderfully full of free spirit with Brooke owning the heck out of her champagne-hued Rosecliff Gown from BHDLN, which she perfectly finished with a floral crown of springy greens & yellow petite blooms. The same level of style was put into their day with details ranging from their weathered gray wood signage, strand lights, wedding photos of family members, even the names of the tables, those of popular streets in Charleston. Brooke & Matt's cake is another true treat, a whipped buttercream cake frosted with spatula texture finished with groupings of everyone's favorite, succulents! Of course a wedding would not be complete without all the family members, Brooke & Matt's dogs joined in on the fun and the free spirited style with floral crowns of their own! This wedding is a stunning mashup of sophistication & relaxation and I know you're going to love every minute of it as much as I do!

Wedding Buzzwords ~ Rustic, Vintage, Whimsical, and Natural
Specialty Cocktail ~ Lowcountry Mojito ? Firefly Vodka, Mint, Simple Syrup & Soda

Matt: financial adviser at Mass Mutual - coaches youth baseball - loves golf - movie buff - very fun loving and laid back - dry sense of humor- easy going California boy! Brooke: legal assistant for the Social Security Administration - loves theater, music, and animals - loves a good meal with a great glass of wine - outgoing and extremely extroverted - a little more high-strung so Matt is the perfect compliment. We both love our puppies!!!! If you ask Matt when he and Brooke met, he will tell you it was at his brother's wedding in Delaware in July of 2008. Brooke knows, however, that the two actually met at Thanksgiving at Matt's brother and future sister-in-law's place in Los Angeles in 2007. Apparently neither one of them made much of an impression. Fortunately, they reconnected at the wedding that following summer, with a little bit of planning on the part of Matt's brother Mike and Matt's sister-in-law, and one of Brooke's closest childhood friends, Amy. After a night of dancing (and maybe a little too much drinking) in Delaware, they were eager to discover they were both living in LA and headed back a few days later. A round of putt-putt, an Angel's game, a fine for a Coors Light on the beach in Malibu and the two were smitten! The rest, as they say, was history. After convincing Matt to move East in 2010 and spending a year in Baltimore, the two realized Matt's SoCal upbringing had not prepared him for the rain and snow. The two packed up in November 2011 and moved to sunny Charleston, home of Brooke's alma mater College of Charleston. The city's charm and beautiful weather had Matt at "hey yall" and it was safe to say they would call this place home.

Our wedding is sort of a mix of rustic and vintage with the laid back Charleston attitude. Decorations were minimal...pretty much lights and flowers. The flowers were really the color while the tables and decorations were more neutral. Bouquets were a mixture of craspedia, succulents, white hydrangea, gyp, and yellow or peach roses. The round and family style tables were named after streets in Downtown Charleston. The Cotton Dock fit the rustic theme and has classic Charleston elements like oak trees and a waterfront view.

Parting Fond Words: "Ceremony had a ukelele player, Bob Urick. Songs were ?Somewhere Over the Rainbow? for wedding party processional and I walked down to the The Beach Boys? ?Wouldn?t It Be Nice.? The necklace I wore had 3 lockets, which had folded pics of my dad."
