Homemade Budget Vintage Inspired Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Sophie and Tom tied the knot back in October at Field Place, West Sussex. They wanted a relaxed and vintage inspired wedding day, with a mix of colours and home made touches.

I so love Sophie's Kate Middleton inspired Alfred Angelo lace sleeved wedding dress, which she wore with a sparkly tiara, such a classic timeless look. There were colourful blooms, ice cream and converse. Not to mention their whole wedding came in at just over £5000. Love.

Thanks so much to the wonderful Cherry Red Photography for sharing her images with us today.

The Dress + Accessories... I went to a couple of shops for my dresses, I thought I knew what I wanted. I had my heart set on 'Cinderella' by Alfred Angelo, but when I tried it on, something wasn't right, I've lost count of the amount of dresses that I tried, but I found 'the one'. It was also by Alfred Angelo, it was the Kate Middleton replica dress, it was perfect, nothing like my sweetheart neck fitted dress with tulle skirt! I had a second dress for the evening, as my wedding dress had a really long train, I went for a 50's style tea length dress, lace top half, low back to it and a satin skirt, I had a green ribbon put on and borrowed one my nanny's brooches to accessorise it (I'm hoping to wear it again one day) I wanted a 2 tiered veil, no diamonds or ribboned edge, so that was easy (eBay), and I wanted a comb tiara not a traditional one, so again I did my research shopped around but found a beautiful Swarovski one on eBay. I wanted something special for my necklace as my Nan was buying my jewellery I wanted something I could keep forever, in the end I found a beautiful Pandora charm, it was a wedding bell with a pearl droplet inside, and my Nan bought me a silver chain, it was perfect!

The Flowers... I wanted a vintage, hand tied, country garden style bouquet. I wanted lots of colours, to tie in my pastels, and vintage colours, which meant using a lot of different flowers. We went to a few vintage inspired florists and a local florist too, we tried to get a great price but to also like the florist, as it's important to be happy to change details and feel you can call up and query all the little bits! Brandon at www.flowers4.co.uk was amazing, not only was it a great price but nothing was too much, I felt I could call, make changes, check any of the details, and the flowers where just beautiful, could not have asked for anything more from the team there!

Oh and of course my shoes, I had cream converse, you see so many uncomfortable brides; I thought why bother, I'd rather have something that looks fab and is comfy!

The Cake... I didn't want a traditional cake, and wasn't too fussed about the cutting of the cake, I wanted something that looked pretty and tasted good! We went for a tower of tarts that my great aunt made for me, we had lemon, cherry bakewell, & treacle, I got 3 cake stands from hobby craft, and dressed them up a bit, we had some bunting on one tart, and 2 matching china love birds on the other, they looked great along side our sweetie table

Your Photographer... I'd been looking around, but it's difficult being a photographer (& having parents that are photographers) you become a bit fussy, it didn't help that Laura's was one of the first I looked into, she had set the bar for other photographers and no one else seemed quite right, they didn't compare to the style that I wanted and the outcome was perfect, so why look any further? I love Laura's work, she works so well with natural light and from the scenery to composition, to the final image, I honestly could not have asked for anything else, I cannot wait to plaster the walls with our beautiful wedding photo's!

The Details + Decor... We couldn't decorate the venue inside apart from what was going on tables, we had plain table cloths for all the tables but we hired vintage chair covers, that where all different so that added a burst of colour and they looked beautiful, we where having afternoon tea so there wasn't too much room for grand centrepieces, we went for jam jars with a few loose flowers in each, and had vintage china, we made our place names from luggage tags and stamps and tied them to the tea cups as place names with raffia, it was a cute touch that looked so quaint! We had our sweetie table that was decorated in bunting, vintage glass wear and sweetie tubs decorated with raffia and ribbons, we decorated the entrance, with an old suitcase for our cards, and lots of bunting, yarn wrapped letters, and lots of boxes, old books, things to add height and make a composition that's pretty to look at. I was so happy with my table plan as at first it wasn't working out, we had tea cups and tea pots as the tables and string and pegs with place names, lots of buttons, flowers and stamps, and it all came together in the end, I was so happy with it that I kept it. We also had a vintage ice cream van, serving ice cream soda's and mini cupcakes, everyone loves cake, so it went down a treat, and Tracey is so lovely that it was service with a smile!

The Honeymoon... We hadn't thought too much about the honeymoon, especially as we had our little girl at home, there wasn't going to be an extravagant long honeymoon, just a few nights away somewhere pretty was a nice little break for us. We picked Rome; we both wanted to go and had never been. It's somewhere you could explore & relax! We had a great time and the weather was perfect!

We had a mad evening that just finished the day off, if I have another big event, I will definitely be hiring the band again! They played such a range of music and you thought they'd topped it off, but the best was to come, we had this crazy idea of doing a Harlem shake at our wedding, but never got round to it, how ever just as the night was coming to an end, they belted it out, and even now the reaction from the dance floor makes me smile ear to ear every time! Having everyone that matters to you there on your wedding day is the most over whelming feeling, and sitting down with all those faces around you, there all there for you, it is true a beautiful moment to cherish forever!
