Ask The Experts - Honeymoons By Mr & Mrs Smith

Mr & Mrs Smith began as a boutique hotel guidebook publisher in 2003 and is now an online booking service with an eye for hip honeymoons and a curated collection of more than 900 romantic hotels around the world. I found my most favourite hotel in the whole of the world via Mr and Mrs Smith, Chateau Les Merles in the Dordogne and have always found their service and communication better than anyone else I have ever used in terms of booking getaway accommodation.

Many of you will no doubt be considering your honeymoon destinations right about now (or perhaps just a lovely relaxing break away at some point soon - I know I am!) and to help you with your decision making process we've got Mr and Mrs Smith Travel consultant Susannah Garcia who has three years of expertise, to share her top three itineraries for newlyweds.

Susannah will be on-line this morning and over lunchtime to answer any questions you may have regarding planning your trip of a lifetime, and that's any questions folks, so make the most of the opportunity and get asking the expert!

Susannah Garcia : Italy is my favourite holiday spot, with fabulous food, scenery set for envy-inducing holiday snaps and famed art and culture; I'm even planning a romantic trip there with my husband soon - if we can decide on a hotel! I recommend kicking off your trip at the Amalfi Coast for breathtaking scenery. Split a four- or five-night stay between two hotels: I love cliffside Capo La Gala, by the Bay of Naples, which has mod-style rooms and enticing views of Capri; I was itching to jump in the ferry and visit. Be sure to book into Maison la Minervetta - when I stayed there I found it spellbinding; its rooms are unique hideaways for loved-up couples.

Next stop, Tuscany, to stay at my favourite hotel, Castello di Casole; its outdoor pool overlooks rolling vineyards, and wine is made on site. My husband and I spent an afternoon in nearby Siena's square, eating gelato while watching the sunset; it was perfect.

Finish with two nights in Florence: stay beside the River Arno - for easy access to the city centre - at the Gallery Hotel Art, which has a belissima rooftop terrace, or for old-school opulence check-in to Il Salviatino.

Long Haul

For a long-haul honeymoon, head to Sri Lanka - it's sun-kissed and adventure-filled all-year round. From The Wallawwa you can explore the sights in Colombo, then chill out in the peaceful gardens.

Why not stop off in the Maldives, too? If money's no object, book Anantara Kihavah Villas for kick-your-shoes-off relaxation. It's pricy, but worth it for palm-dotted sands, secluded villas and even a personal butler. Gili Lankanfushi's refined-rustic, stilted villas are also heavenly.

California Dreamin'

I'm also a fan of the Californian coastal drive; we took a month to travel up to San Francisco and back down to Mexico, but you can see the highlights in just two weeks. Spend two nights in LA before heading to Santa Barbara; stay at romantic El Encanto, which has fairylight-illuminated arbors in its grounds.

In Big Sur splash out on the cliff-set Post Ranch Inn - voted Best Smith Hotel at the Smith Awards - for sweeping Pacific views. Once you reach San Francisco, make a beeline for the Napa Valley wine region. Tin-roofed barns, decked porches and fabulous food and wine (of course) await you at The Carneros Inn.
