Ohio firefighter Justin Deierling knows how to turn an ordinary, everyday moment into a magical one.

On March 19, Deierling popped the question to his girlfriend, Megan Zahorec, during a fire drill at Greentown School in North Canton, Ohio where she works as a counselor.

"I met Megan volunteering at the fire station," he told The Huffington Post in an email. "We passed out water to kids in a walk-a-thon. I knew instantly that she was someone special by the way that she interacted with the kids. I wanted to incorporate how we met and the kids, who she adores, into the proposal."

Deierling -- who spent two weeks planning the surprise -- proposed in front of staff and students at the school. He even brought hundreds of ring pops to hand out to the kids afterwards.

"Everyone went nuts when they revealed the ['Will you marry me'] sign and Justin took a knee," Deierling's brother Adam ( who shot the proposal) told HuffPost Weddings. "It was all very exciting."
