Basket-weaving is one of the oldest known crafts. It lets you practise your dexterity and attention to detail. I remember my son making a String Bowl as bread holder. We still use this bowl at our weekend breakfasts. He even made one for his grandma.

Now I've just shown him a carefree technique to make baskets. I'd like to encourage him to weave Fabric Coil Bowl which I found on Lisa's blog The Red Thread. This project is a great excuse to use extra scraps of fabric. You just need to wrap them around the cord, and you get a ready colourful basket for your hanks of yarn.
